is it okay if i use a saline solution for nasal congestion while i am on benzonatate ? the medication said may cause nasal congestion.

Several things: You need to be thoroughly evaluated by your doctor.  Only then can you find out what's going on and what can be done for you.

i tested positive on wednesday 16 december and self isolating since then. my medication each day includes prospan cough syrup, linctagon effervescent tablet, salex saline nasal rinse and acc.
today i got feverish symptoms- what should i take. ?

Tylenol: Take Tylenol, rather than Motrin for fever control. Rest, drink fluids and if your breathing worsens, please go to the hospital.

is inflammation of the nasal septum lining treated with medication or will saline rinses be the best?

Nasal sprays: Inflammation of the nasal mucosa or lining is best treated with a topical nasal steroid spray like flonase, nasonex, (mometasone) etc.  These nasal steroid sprays take some time (months) to work and should be used every day, not just for a week or two.  Additionally, nasal saline sprays will help by keeping the nasal lining moist because dryness can cause more inflammation.  Think about a humidifier at night.

when having blood drawn in the er, is it necessary to hook up the iv port and inject saline if you don't require constant medication?

Let me explain: Just for blood draw you do not need this but because you are in the er they may need to IV access this why they keep open in case you need it.

Depends on med: Five to ten mL is a general amount of saline flush in larger children, depending on the viscosity of the medication being delivered through the tube.  Infants and very small children may require less.

i've been using flonase for a couple of weeks and every night i do a saline irrigation. the medication isn't really helping stop my post nasal drip fully. is the saline spray reducing the effectiveness? i know to builds up so should i stop saline?

PND: You may have allergies causing the PND.  The saline should be helping and won't reduce the effectiveness of the flonase.
You should see an ENT doctor for further evaluation.

when you use a mucus removal spray and you take a shower and have a runny nose after the shower does the saline drain out of your nose and when you use the spray does it stay in your nose or is it just a medication ?

That depends:  That depends. If you use a nasal spray that decongests than it will just help from producing more of that mucus. If use nasal saline spray or warm shower -each of those will help the nasal mucus that is there to drain out.

No: You just can't. You need to get it from the fresh blood or semen of someone who's sick.

am i safe from amebic meningitis if i use simply saline from the drug store?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Obviously make sure the container is sealed, no for just microbes but as a standard safety practice. Microbes as you mention can be found in warm fresh water. Most often in hot springs. However, some events have been reported from nasal flushes / rinse. However, I am not certain to the validity of these. But to make it short.. Rinse away.
