Quality of sleep?: How do you know if you don't have a sleep problem ? Need to consider sleep issue maybe not apnea but periodic leg movement and fragment sleep patterns exist as well  also consider meds and if doing everything correctly need to have laboratory evaluation and a medical evaluation if the problem persist

See MD asap: Studies show that autoimmune diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis have a large cardiac component. And, pericarditis is a common diagnosis in patients with RA. That should be your primary concern, to rule this out. Especially because the pain of pericarditis is worse when lying down and better sitting up. However, you need a full exam for other causes &amp; please follow a Rheumatologist regularly for RA

Hmm!: If you are looking to do this on a chronic basis - i would discourage it. Your body needs sleep to heal and rejuvenate.  You usually can't have your cake and eat it too. Take care.

30 hours - yikes !: Are your hyped up? If so, try something to de-stress like deep breathing exercises. If you have cyclic problems with marked changes in mood  energy level- then please notify your doctor. Keep bedroom dark & cool. Turn off tv. No caffeine for 6 hrs & no alcohol or tobacco w/i 2 hrs of sleep. Keep dinner moderate sized & finish at least 2 to 3 hrs before sleep. Can try warm milk, or chamomile tea.

Enlarged Prostate: At age 76, possibly most common cause of getting up to pass urine, and disturbed sleep is enlarged prostate.
Other causes can be:
urinary tract infection
overactive bladder
diabetes
diuretic use
stroke
please see a urologist for medical examination , diagnosis, and treatment.

Yes & No: Our need for sleep is pre-wired and individual for each of us. We may be able to go a few days or weeks on less sleep and feel fine but it will eventually take it's toll on our physical and/or mental well being. The optimal amount of sleep varies for each person throughout their lives as well and can be affected by stress, health, or any number of things.

Manic episode: You have extensive mental health issues. You have insomnia or are self medicating with Zopiclone which will keep you up. You are also bipolar or Schizophrenic on Quetiapine and may be experiencing a manic episode. Your mental health status may not be stable and I recommend you contact your psychiatrist immediately to avoid further decompensation.

Sleep disorder: Even if you are underestimating the amount and quality of sleep you've been getting - it is definitely not enough. You really should see a doctor for a referral to a sleep disorder clinic or go directly. This is not likely to resolve itself and your body, emotions & mental functions can suffer all sorts of damage. Get an eval and treatment asap. Till then, rest/relax as much as possible & hydrate.

how many hours do you have to be awake before you start hallucinating from sleep deprivation?

3 days: It appears that going without sleep for at least 3 days may cause one to have hallucinations (visual, auditory, sensory). However, i don't believe it is universal. This is just the ballpark figure.
