It depends: It depends on your healing ability, the degree of the fracture, your compliance to the treatment by not bearing weight on the foot etc.  Consider follow up with the specialist to be safe.

Avulsion vs. Jone's: Avulsion fracture of the any metatarsal will take about 4-6 weeks to heal. However, if the base of the 5th metatarsal is broken this might be jone's fracture. In that case without surgical intervention, 6-8 weeks since there is not enough blood supply to this part of the bone.

is it possible for a 26 year old to have an unfused apophysis? thats what my doctors are trying to diagnose, ive had lateral foot pain for 4months and an x-ray shows what looks like an avulsion fracture of the 5th metatarsal?

: You could have which commonly misdiagnosed as a subluxation of the cuboid bone. There are a few people in the country that consider this to exist. Dr. Stanley Newall. A podiatrist in Seattle Washington Wrote a very good article on this very topic. I found that a limited range of motion in a clockwise and counterclockwise position is pathognomonic for subluxation of the cuboid

Dancer's Fracture.: This sounds like a fracture know as a dancers fracture. With a walking cast boot and guarded ambulation, count on about 6 weeks for the bone to be strong enough to bear weight without the boot. It could take as much as 8 to 12 weeks tor total recovery and  thus back to normal activity.

Fracture: You can experience pain in the ankle and back of calf if you are in a cast or a walking boot.  I would speak to your doctor for further evaluation.

Foot break: a tarsal fracture that has 'avulsed' or pulled off a smal piece of bone secondary to a tendon ( peroneus brevis , for example) or a ligament .almost all are treated non/ operatively in a cast/ walking boot w/ progressive wt. bearing. The serious tarsal( mid- foot ) fracture is the 'Lis - Franc' injury. See an experienced ORS if this is the case. Best of Luck!
