Dark urin: Infection, blood, liver disease, drugs like methylphenidate or dextroamphetamine. Given urinary frequency and change in urine color I would recommend you be seen.

No magic number: He can empty his bladder whenever he feels like it. Some men don't like to wait. How much urine he makes is a function of how much water etc he drinks. That's his choice. If there's no reason to suspect diabetes mellitus or insipidus or renal interstitial disease preventing concentration or a prostate problem causing dribbling, it's a non-problem.

Smething  wrong: with your calculations . If you have frequency at your age of 27 most likely urinary tract infection see your doctor for U C and Rx of antibiotics . 96 Oz is nearly 2700 cc times 3 to 4 a day

: Do you pass 800cc at a time. X  6 = 4800cc in 24hrs? This is very excessive if correct. Make sure you measure amount correctly. There is no set amount which triggers the desire to urinate and it varies widely. Try not to hold urine too long after the urge or set times to empty bladder. Pl. get the amount passed each time and the no. of times correct and ask again.

4-6 times per day: It depends on one's fluid consumption.  Average fluid consumption is 1.5-2 liters per day.  Average bladder capacity is 300-500 ml.

You're : You're right that "holding it" can cause some problems. When the bladder is stretched full most of the time, it doesn't "feel" full anymore. A child might have an achey tummy, but not recognize that his bladder is full. With his pain tolerance and other tummy aches, he really doesn't feel like he has to go.

His bladder should be full first thing in the morning, and since he is 5, he might enjoy a game to get him going. Try sprinkling cheerios into the toilet and invite him to "sink" them. What boy can resist the challenge? A smart pediatric nurse once suggested that you draw a face on a square of toilet paper and have the child sink that. I was so embarrassed the first few times i suggested it, but the kids just love it, and they keep going until the last drop.

When kids don't know that they have to go, i recommend going six times a day on a schedule that works for you. Make a little star on a chart each time they go. Keep the cheerios handy if you need an incentive! best of luck to you.

ive had cloudy urine off and on since december. it comes and goes though during the day, and usually my urine will be cloudy 1-2 times a day, but other times during the day its fine and looks normal. what could be causing this?

: It would be helpful to get a urinalysis when the urine is cloudy-a clean catch specimen would be best. That would give you an answer as to what the abnormality is that is causing cloudy urine. An infection would not come and go throughout the day. Perhaps it is related to your fluid intake-dilute urine looks different than concentrated urine. If it continues, see your doctor for a urine test.
