what is the definition or description of: benzocaine allergy?

Anaphylaxis: A true allergic reaction is that where even the smallest dose of an "allergen" causes a full blown organ system shut down, Rash, wheezing to Shortness of breath, dysrhythmias to Ventricular fibrillation, total renal shut down. Supportive measures, epinephrine and anti-allergen (reversal) needs to be given.
This can happen with any substance introduced into the body not recognized as "self".

the anaesthesiologist says im severely allergic to morphine. my dentist says im moderately allergic to prilocaine, benzocaine  and forte ( with epinephrine).
will having these allergies present a problem in taking astrazeneca vaccine?

: None of these ingredients are in or related to the Covid vaccine. However, anyone who has had an allergic reaction to a medication is generally observed for a longer period of time after the vaccine to be sure.

i have allergy to benzocaine. this week i had a rxn to a dental anesthetic, swelling of cheek & throat. how long should i take benadryl?  need tests?

Allergy: Should not have any of the caine medications. next time could have anaphylaxis. Most safe way to test is with an allergist. Consider getting Epipen. Benadryl may help in the first 48 hours.

painful blisters in mouth & vagina due to bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) allergy. ok to put benzocaine cream on outer vag, offers a little relief. what else can i use? help!

Symptomatic relief: is best after discussion with your PCP or doctor. Make sure this is documented in your chart as ALLERGY TO BACTRIM/SULFAS. The symptomatic relief is perhaps the best, like ice chips, no hot, spicy, foods. Keep it bland, hydrating, easy to digest as your entire throat may also be affected down to your gut. Tepid, soothing, nonstinging baths like Aveeno (oatmeal) may be helpful. No chemical shampoos or soaps.

Sneezing.....: Runny nose, itchy nose and throat, nasal congestion, itchy and watery eyes, and possibly even cough, wheeze, and shortness of breath.

Not necessarily.: If your toddler's history is not consistent with croup, other diagnoses for stridor should be considered: stridor lasting for short durations (hours); stidor lasting longer than infectious period; stridor not associated with acute infection; severe episodes requiring emergency room visits or hospitalizations; progressively more severe or frequent episodes of croup; choking or gagging before onset.

my 11 month old was just stung by a hornet. there are no signs of allergy but he's really fussy now. ?

Not surprising: What you want to watch for is development of rash, swelling other than a little at the site of the sting, especially around the mouth; or breathing difficulties.  The best treatment for now is to apply ice, it will minimize the spread and reaction of the venom.  Keep an eye out for any swelling or redness that develops in a couple days--that usually indicates an infection.  Hornets eat garbage.

Infection or allergy: Dark yellow or green mucus draining from nose could be due to an infection ( viruses and bacteria can cause this). Allergies can also cause this.
