It is in a class of medications known as benzodiazepines which share similar properties such as valium, klonopin, xanax, (alprazolam) and Librium  the advantage is that it works quickly, but the risks are developing a physical dependence (tolerance over time and withdrawal when stopping it) or an addiction.

Sometimes used to relax muscles but the reason is because of the CNS sedation.  Useful, but very addictive.

Yes.: That is overdosing.  That is very risky. IF this happened a short time ago, you need an emergency evaluation.  Call 911. But you clearly also need to address whatever drove you to this. Consult a professional, and with some haste, since you are obviously very desperate.
