See specialist: Get a second opinion, get more imaging.  These sysmptoms are not typical for someone young as you.  Consider changing atenolol to alternative medications to see if related.

why did propranolol give me a bad cough a hard time breathing? atenolol does not give me these symptoms why did the 2  have  different reactions

B1 and B2 receptors : propranolol is not selective for b1 and b2 receptors while Atenolol in lower doses only affects periphery ( b2) receptors which doesn't work on your heart that much. Do you have Asthma? Propanol is even worse for people with Asthma.

Yes: Older beta blockers like atenolol can cause weight gain. In the studies, there was about 2-4 lb weight gain on atenolol. 

Some of the newer ones, like Carvedilol or bisoprolol are less likely to cause weight gain.

i've taken atenolol 4 years. my doc changed that to metoprolol 30 days ago. now i cannot lose weight and am gaining. could the metoprolol cause this?

Unlikely: If the dose is equivalent, it's not the change in the medication that's causing the weight gain, especially since you have been with this drug class for the last 4 years.

took metoprolol er for bad pvcs but gained tons of weight so dr switched me to atenolol but can't this be worse? better options to consider, thoughts?

PVC's: You could try magnesium for the PVC's or increasing your water intake and exercise to try and decrease the PVC's.  Any of the beta blockers can cause weight gain, so try to use lower doses.

i'm on atenolol 25mg twice daily.i am losing weight and my blood pressure is dropping. i haven't taken my evening dose as my bp is 115/72. is that ok?

Yes and no: B"sd
avapro - basically a kind of weak diuretic
atenolol is associated with weight gain, higher blood sugar and decreased blood flow to limbs.  Substituition with a "balanced" beta blocker has been shown to give some mild weight loss, metabolic improvements and better blood flow to extremeties.

currently take 360mg verapamil and 50 mg atenolol for palpitations? 37 year old female, weight 127.   i feel dizzy alot.  could it be the medication

Yes: If your blood pressure or pulse rate is lowered too much it could make you feel dizzy.  Usually this would manifest like a near fainting episode rather than a spinning sensation.  I would call and/or go see your doctor.

Give it a try: If you do gain weight then consider other options.  It is not that common to gain weight on beta blockers and can usually be avoided if you watch your food intake.  If your irregular heartbeat is so bothersome that you take medication you may want to consider ablation.  It is ussually such a benign condition that no medications are necessary.  Make sure it is not your anxiety that you are treating
