No: Irritating to esophagus, poorly absorbed drug, multiple interactions w/other meds to decrease absorption.  Need to tkae on empty stomach, first thing in am, empty stomach, with 8 ounces water; don't eat, take meds, or lie down for 1/2 h afterwards.

Solvent: It is an organic solvent that is very strong tho not as strong as dmso. Used to remove nail polish @ mor. A sever irritant to humans: skin GI tract & esp eyes.  Should b used with care.

Yes.: Intravenous Reclast (zoledronic acid) and Prolia injections would be good alternatives.

See what your doctor is thinking. If you stop, you probably would not notice anything immediately, but osteoporosis is painless unless you break a bone.

Yes: Paget's disease of bone is associated with extremely rapid build up and breakdown of bone in affected areas.This leads to abnormal, enlarged and brittle bone. Risedronate slows down both the breakdown ad the build up and results in more normal appearing bone and can prevent some of the complications of paget's.

Acto-no: In my experience the patented drudeveloped to improve the bine density scan have not proven to prevent bone fractires.  In fact, the black box warning states that these drugs cause brittle bone and increases risk of fracture.  The ultimate goal in medicine is to get clinical outcomes while doing no harm.  Bio identical hormone replacement has been proven to both produce bone & and stop bone loss.

Similar, but differ: Both are bisphosphonate drugs, taken orally, which decrease bone breakdown by osteoclast cells, and therefore increase bone density ;#40;a marker of bone strength;#41;. Different dosing, but can be weekly or monthly for either in osteoporosis. Were used in tumors in or to bone-now drugs mostly given IV for that. Fosamax (alendronate) stays in the system and bone longer; was thought to be more GI irritating ;#40;maybe not;#41;.
