sometimes i get dizzy due to asthma. it's been happening a lately since there's a lot of pollen this year. is this giving me brain damage from loss of oxygen?

: You should get e pulse oximeter, if you haven’t one already. If your pulse ox stays equal to or higher than 88%, then you do not need supplemental oxygen and you are not at risk for brain damage due to low oxygen levels. If you are experiencing shortness of breath due to your asthma, with or without a drop in your pulse ox, you should see a lung doctor to evaluate your current treatment. Good luck

can having an asthma attack cause a brain aneurysm?

Accepted Answer

Not usually: however if your blood pressure tends to rise with asthma attacks and this in turn makes the aneurysm more likely to rupture but this is merely hypothetical since I have not seen patients developing aneurysm (although no CT or MRI were done to verify it) or having ruptured aneurysm from asthma.

is it true that the risk of developing a brain tumour is lower if you dont have neurofibromatosis, but have eczema and asthma?

Yes: The risk of brain tumor is higher in people with neurofibromatosis than in people with either eczema or asthma

some water went down my windpipe and am coughing. afraid of secondary drowning but i can breathe ok now. will my asthma inhaler help if im still wheezing after awhile? also getting a headache that doesnt mean water is on my brain does it?

Water in trachea: The water in your wind pipe (trachea) will not drown you but will cause coughing at the time amid could transiently aggravate your asthma so the use of your inhaler in this setting would be helpful. The headache does not mean water on the brain. The headache is likely from the coughing and will pass. You will be ok.

i am patient 0f asthma, diabetese, hypertention, high cholestrol, reoccurent nassal polyp, anxiety, depression, brain anyerism, and un diagnosed fever from last 3 months what can be cause of fever, trreatment?

Many possibilities: There could be many possibilites, from infection to fever to an inflammatory condition such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.  The best answer is to see your primary care and discuss your concerns with her or him.

MIgraines: Migraines are troublesome. Often control takes a holistic approach. Foods such as alcohol, caffeine, red wine, cured meat, chocolates or msg can contribute. For some people more extensive food allergy testing can be of benefit.  Behavioral changes such as sleep, stress physical activity and smoking cessation helpful. Envromental factors like loud noises, weather changes, high altitiude.

what tests would you do for 58-yr old female w/ confusion (diabetes, asthma, anemia, apnea, spider cyst on brain). had mri, ct, spinal tap, ekg. ?

History and Physical: Start with complete h+p and blood tests.
Would especially want to know:
thyroid function tests, b12, liver function tests, kidney function tests, etc.

Maybe: By enduring pain, i assume you're referring to what we call chronic pain. There are studies that suggest differences in brain anatomy & function in those suffering from chronic pain. However, this association does not prove causation since we don't have before & after tests. But it's certainly worrisome. We do have studies demonstrating brain vs body effects, eg narcotics decr testosterone levels.

It depends: On the cause, usually most brain injries can be improved with intensive therapy. This is not an easy questions to answer without more details.

Family practice : It depends on cause and how severe. Often, through therapy, your brain can learn to compensate. It can take time, hard work but with dermination I have seen miraculous recoveries
