i had my gallbladder removed in 2009 and for the last 4 days my upper stomach has been hurting bad...very tender to the touch i'm over weight, diabetic and high cholesterol .

This : This problem requires a physical examination, and more information. Was your gallbladder removed laparoscopically? If so another possibility of your pain could be a trocar site hernia, meaning a small area of fat or other tissue has herniated through the small incision that the ports were placed through. This would cause tenderness, and usually redness closer to the skin.

i have sludge in gallbladder (says ultrasound), pain and nausea if eating high fat meal, had two 15 minute pain attack do i have gallbladder disease?

Probably yes.: But your symptoms don't seem all that severe.  Consult your surgeon or GI specialist for specific recommendation regarding further treatment, including cholecystectomy.

Gallbladder.: If your gallbladder appears inflamed on ultrasound and has free fluid around it, associated with symptoms which sound like gallbladder symptoms, I would say the most likely cause of your symptoms is your gallbladder. It is certainly possible to have cholecystitis without gallstones. You should be evaluated by your doctor or a surgeon ASAP. Good luck.

Yes, but so could...: ...lot&#x27;s of things that inflame liver cells, as is indicated by elevation in serum transaminases (ast and/or alt). Hepatitis can be caused by a variety of issues (infectious, ischemic, metabolic, toxic, infiltrative, alcohol-related, drugs, etc.). You could even have mononucleosis.  So what tests have been done &amp; what  has been ruled out?

Both: Both conditions may coexists . Pelvic pain with endometriosis tends to be lower abdominal pelvic. Gallbladder symptoms are often aggravated by eating fatty, spicy and late meals.

Probably not GB: Gallbladder disease, most frequently cholecystitis, or inflammation of the gallbladder, does not cause enlarged spleen.  Under very unusual circumstances, bacterial infection could cause some response or abscess in the spleen.  More often, enlarged spleen or splenomegaly is a reflection of liver disorder, in which the gallbladder may also be affected.  Check with your doctor.

Possible: Gallstones can cause pancreatitis.  Pancreatitis can cause splenic vein thrombosis.  Splenic vein thrombosis and cause the spleen to enlarge.

Acalculous cholecyst: You have a diseased GB and need a cholecystectomy. This usually caused by fine sludge obstructing the outflow tract of the GB and causing infection.

Accepted Answer

Not likely: Typical gb disease is caused from precipitation of chemicals into stones.  It is unlikely that a viral infection could change this chemical imbalance to make the precipitation more likely.  In addition, there has never been any evidence to show that a viral infection could induce the gallbladder to stop working appropriately as in a dysfunctional gallbladder.

i have gallbladder disease, is it possible to have bike duct blockage from a stone with only mild pain on upper right side?

Maybe: Do you have known gallstones? Generally bile duct blockage or obstruction from gallstones is painful and associated with nausea, vomiting ; yellow jaundice. Partial gallstone blockage may not have all those symptoms. Usually an ultrasound ; blood tests are fairly helpful in diagnosis. Sometimes MRI is done (mrcp).
