DEVELOPMENTAL DISORD: Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder with impaired social interaction and communication also with repetitive and stereotyped behavior. Aspergers  syndrome is  better than autism in cognitive and language development. Adhd  is a disorder when child has attention deficit , hyperactive,  learning problems and  needs psychiatric evaluation prior to rx.

Aspergers is a mild: Form of autism. Autism is a disoder in a person's ability to communicate or relate to others whichs starts early in childhood. Adhd is not part of the autistic spectrum disorders, although someone on the spectrum could also have adhd. Adhd attention deficit hyperactive disorder is a physiological tendency to be easily distracted, have difficulty concentrating or sitting still.

Brain development: Dear shelly,  this is a difficult question because asperger's, autism and adhd are still incompletely understood problems of the developing brain.  Each child/person with any of these labels is unique with strengths and weaknesses.  Often with these developmental diagnoses there are overlapping symptoms which doctors call co-morbidities, like many overlapping circles.  Hope this helps.

Yes. Comorbidity is: when 2 or more conditions occur in the same person. ADHD can be comorbid with both Autism Spectrum Disorders and Schizophrenia. However there is overlap of symptoms as well and a good evaluation is necessary to differentiate if the person has one or the other or both conditions. If a person has schizophrenia then that is the priority TX target. ADHD TX would follow if necessary. Best regards.

Poly-dx: While some developmental diagnoses speak to different areas of development (e.g., cognitive delay, social disability like autism) it is unlikely (and in the case of autism and aspergers) or even inappropriate to diagnose all you listed as co-existing. Seek a second opinion from a developmental pediatrician and/or early childhood psychologist.

Regardless, person to ask about safety of some proposed medication/treatment/surgery as it applies to you is person suggesting it for you. Seek evaluation: Racing thoughts is most commonly associated with bipolar disorder -a serious mood problem. I would recommend consulting a psychiatrist .It would also be wise to clean up your diet -consider the feingold diet.Also use of essential fatty acids is a good choice-fish oil.

: Asperger's is on the high functioning end of the spectrum for Autistic disorders. Evaluation of any autism spectrum disorder requires in person, multiple visit assessment. While GAD, social phobia and OCD can all be features of someone with Aspergers, they can also be independent. Evaluation of an individuals abilities and difficulties can be performed by a licensed Psychologist or behavioral Dr.
