yesterday after a ct scan i been diagnosed with lacunar infarction on the left side of my brain.i feel tired and my vision is not the best as it was before.i have the sensation that is blurred.but i am happy is just that nothing else.

You need an exam: You need to see an ophthalmologist for a complete eye exam including visual field testing, since infarcts in the brain can cause abnormal peripheral vision.

had a ct scan - one without contrast and one with contrast via iv - done over a month ago. ever since then, ive had terrible, but fluctuating, pain on my left side. i never had the pain prior to my ct, only after. what could be causing this??

: CT scans do emit radiation, but in low doses that have nearly no long term effects on the body. Iodine contrast rarely causes acute kidney injury, which occurs within 24 hours of receiving the contrast. Other than those, it is unlikely for the CT itself to cause complications such as pain.

Not much: If they inject a venous contrast agent you could have feelings with that.  Other than the hard table to other real issues.

No, there: are no side effects from the CT.  There are potential side effects of CT contrast, including a very small chance of severe allergic reaction/anaphylaxis, if contrast is necessary.

Visit with your Doct: Your doctor can explain to you what he/she thinks about the cause of your back pain. If CT scan is OK, pain might settle down with simple pain medication and bed rest. Otherwise he may have to send your to another specialist and get a MRI scan of your spine which shows the spine better that a CT scan does.

Multiple causes: Causes of left-sided back and rib pain may be due to musculoskeletal conditions such as costochondritis, intercostal neuritis, Quadratus Lumborum muscle strain, degenerative joint disease, and degenerative disc disease, which may readily seen on computed tomography scans of the chest and abdomen. Other causes of left-sided rib and back pain may be due to referral pain from internal disorders.

Complex problem: It is obvious you have had extensive work up already.  Feces is almost never a problem.  There are a number of possible causes of left sided pain including: kidney stones, bowel disease, muscle sprains, skin infections, none descript back problems and more.  Go back to your doctor and explain your concerns.  If you don't like the doctors answer, get a second opinion (not on the internet)

Likely unrelated : Ask your doctor to check your kidney function if you need reassurance. The contrast material used for ct is quite safe but may in rare instances affect the kidneys, more commonly in diabetic patients. Most radiology facilities screen patients prior to the exam to insure the safety of using the contrast media.

it shows in my ct scan that i have a physiologic birateral adnexal cysts, larger on my right side. what does it mean? is it something to worry about?

: Physiologic ovarian cysts are common and benign, they usually resolve after 6-8 weeks.

Accepted Answer

Persisting pain: Check the occipital triangle via a doctor. Also sometimes an MRI with contrast finds things a cat scan cannot.
