No: Signs of ovulation are not sufficient to provide contraception.  The signs of ovulation, like cervical or vaginal fluid, or ovarian pain, are not always present when ovulation occurs.

Sperm can last a long time in the cervix after ejaculation, so timing is not a good method of contraception.

i started the contraception pill mid way through or possibly just after i ovulated. am i still protected after 7 days or shall i wait a cycle?

Accepted Answer

You should be: protected 7 days after starting the pill but, in your case, at 16 years old, "should" isn't good enough.  Please use a barrier contraceptive for the rest of this cycle.  After that, you will receive the full benefit of using oral contraceptive pills.

Condom: At this point, the most effective method of contraception. Can use a spermicidal for extra protection.

im on contraception pills (triphasil) and ovulate, is this normal?

No: If ovulation has been documented by testing(serum progesterone) and you are taking triphasil (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) every day at the same time each day, no it is not normal. It might be time for a "pinch hitter"(another pill type) as triphasil (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) may not be "stepping up to the plate" for you. Ask your md for advice.

Ovulation : Is possible. Always consider ovulation a possibility and use protection if a baby is not wanted.

Have sex : Have sex around the time of ovulation. You can track ovulation using a calendar or use a home ovulation kit. If you have not been trying long it sometimes is best to just relax and not be focused on "trying." often  the stress of trying makes things unnecessarily harder. If there is no reason to suspect a problem getting pregnant then just go for it. This has worked for human history so far.

Yes: If you start the pill on day 1 of your cycle then yes you can get pregnant.  If you start the pill on the Sunday after your menses start then you should wait a month before unprotected sex.

No: The emergency contraceptive pill works by making the endometrium of the uterus unreceptive to a fertilized ovum.

"brown disch": Brown discharge contains oxidized blood, and if ovulation and menses are regular, this may represent blood coming from benign causes in the uterus (fibroids, polyps).  See your gyn provider for an exam and possible ultrasound evaluation.

after taking levonelle emergency contraception at ovulation time in my cycle would it be advisable and safe to get an iud fitted aswell to reduce risk

Maybe: The Paragard IUD can be used as emergency contraception.  When inserted within 5 days of unprotected intercourse, it reduces a woman’s risk of pregnancyto 1 in 1,000.  Its a good option if you want to get reliable long-term contraception.
