Not true: Blood thinner meds do not cause fissure but can cause bleeding from the fissure.

It won't: Anticoagulants don't really "thin" the blood, they just make it harder for blood to clot. Employment drugs tests look for drugs of abuse, not anticoagulants. I am unaware of any false positive reports with these medications.

Yes: Clopidogrel and any blood thinner always caries a risk of any kind of hemmorhage but generally the risk is low and less than the risk of a problem that the clopidogrel is trying to prevent.  However in my career I have seen 2 or 3 cases of bone marrow failure in patients who have taken clopidogrel for a long period of time.

Blood thinners: There are a number of "blood thinners", and the risks of these varies, and the risks of taking can be increased by some medical conditions.  If for example the "blood thinner" is for a condition where a clot might develop in 6% of people per year, and the person is frail and at high risk of falling, the physician may believe the risk of taking the blood thinner outweighs the benefit.

does it bleed in teeth's root canal treatment? i m asking since i take some blood thinner medicine regularly for some other disease and i can't stop my blood thinner. my pt/inr is approx 2.5, do i need to worry for bleeding while root canal treatment?

: The short answer is no!  I also take blood thinners and as a dentist i would not be concerned in having a root canal treatment procedure.

: There is no need to stop the blood thinner. Tell the person giving you the vaccine. You may wait longer than 15 minutes, at the clinic, after the shot to make sure there is no bleeding in the tissue.

Bleeding: If you are referring to warfarin, it can cause severe bleeding.  If aspirin, bleeding and kidney problems.  Be very careful with all blood thinners.  One needs to be monitored for symptoms and signs of bleeding.  If there are concerns, contact your provider.
