Depends on what you: Are asking about. Cigarettes are more likely to cause cardiovascular issues and lung cancer, where as marijuana is more likely to affect physchosocially. That being said, an unfiltered joint can cause as much damage as 20 cigarettes to upper airway mucosa. I would recommend not smoking either.

See below: E-cigarettes contain only nicotine vapor. They don't contain tobacco. Nicotine does not cause lung cancer or heart disease. It is the 200+chemicals produced when tobacco burns that cause disease. So E-cigaretts are much safer that tobacco. However, E-cigaretts can be just as addicting as tobacco and there is concern that they are being heavily promoted towards young adults&gt;lead to smoking tobacco.

HeyPunkFeelingLucky?: People who smoke filtered cigarettes tend to draw in the smoke harder,smoke them to the nub and smoke more per day.That means that the net effect is about the same as non-filters. So why not just enjoy a nice tasty non-filter like a Luck Strike fewer times a day?Puff it gently.Smoke it only half way, put it out and smoke the rest later and limit yourself to 5 a day?Because, you know, BOTH ARE BAD!

Yup & yes both bad: Both cause nicotine addiction.  Both cause cancer. Both are yukky. Smoking is worse for the lungs, dipping is worse for the gums, teeth, and breath.  Spitting brown soupy saliva tinged with tobacco is socially disgusting.

CHOOSE YOUR POISON !: Marijuana smoke contains bronchial irritants. Inhalation with marijuana is more prolonged & deeper than with tobacco.  Higher combustion temperatures are reached because it is smoked to a shorter butt.  This leads to a carboxyhemoglobin concentration that is 5 x ^ than tobacco. 3 x more tar is inhaled. Prolonged use of cannabis can lead to airway inflammation, wheezing & ^ in sputum production.

Less toxic: Electric cigarettes (ecigs) deliver the same amount of nicotine but less toxins and tars than regular cigarettes.  They can be a useful way to wean off cigarettes and stop altogether.  There is some controversy over them as they in fact are a drug delivery device without FDA approval and the nicotine content is unregulated.  This is an ongoing issue at the moment.

The same: The risk factors in smoking menthol cigarettes are not significantly different from those involved in no-menthol cigarettes. Give them up!
