Interstitial cystitis: I suspect  the doctor was referring to interstitial cystitis ( IC) when giving a diagnosis of " chronic inflammation of the bladder". "Interstitial" means between the cells, and IC describes in anatomical terms the location of the disease process. Symptoms of IC include pelvic pain, frequent urination, burning in the urethra ( tube carrying the urine to outside), feeling of incomplete voiding.

ct shows mild circumferential thickening of urinary bladder wall(8mm), no inflammation. report states it may be chronic cystitis. what does it mean?

Chronic inflamation: Cystitis is by definition an inflammation/infection of the bladder. Chronic cystitis is just what it says, a long term inflammation which has resulted over a long term in thickening of the bladder wall.

have interstitial cystitis (dx w/cystoscopy + hydrodistention). had 3rd instillation today for a bad flare, and when i emptied my bladder an hour later as directed, i had mild burning in my urethra. never happened before. what's up with that?

IC with UTI sx: Interstitial cystitis is caused by thickening of the smooth muscle of the bladder secondary to multiple urinary tract infections, generally untreated. The urethra has many pockets which can harbor bacteria, and exercise and/or sexual activity can cause seeding of the bladder, and result in burning in the urethra. Get a urine culture to be certain.

i have cystitis & heavy inflammation in my bladder. we tried antibiotics, anti inflammatories, and steroids. i had the urolift procedure to to improve flow, but my prostate is not the problem. any suggestions on how to get rid of the inflammation?

: Have you had a cystoscope (direct visualization of the bladder’s interior)? Sounds like you need to discuss this with you urologist if you have not. If you are CERTAIN it is NOT your prostate—which, if infected, can take a prolonged course of antibiotic—then I’d say visit your urologist for further evaluation. Oh course, drink PLENTY of water daily—-24oz per day at least. Best wishes!

Yes: Especially if this a recurrent infection, the underlying issue needs to be determined. Any urine infection in a male is by definition complicated and needs further evaluation.

Just a term of...: Cystitis is just a medical term to describe some inflammatory changes in the bladder, usually on its mucosal lining. Its cause may include: bacterial infection, viral infection, non-bacterial inflammation from stone, tumor, foreign, body, after-radiation, catheter/instrumentation, surgery, chemotherapy, etc.

Talk with your urologist in detail timely for individual situation.

Can be/other symptom: Cystitis has many infectious causes, and symptoms.  The usual ones are dysuria (painful urination), frequency, urgency, and suprapubic pain.  But it can be asymptomatic.  Depending on your age, etc. Other things, like weak ligaments that hold up the bladder, uterus, and other organs can cause fuller/lower feeling bladder.  However, it can be cystitis and you should see your doctor to rule it out.

Muscles.:  It works by inhibiting the nerve impulses going to your bladder, that are causing spasms your bladder.your bladder thus and the symptoms go away.
