and why /which tests take 3 weeks?? i'm confused as some results cam back already

Not all STDs tested: Not all STDs are normally included in STD testing. Standard testing usually is for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and HIV. These results usually are available within a week (often within a day or two). Routine STD testing usually does not include herpes, HPV, trichomonas, or others unless there are symptoms that suggest them.

if i slept with someone who slept with a hooker and i tested negative on my std test, should i get tested a second time because the accuracy of these tests is not 100%?

Repeat HIV 6m: You should repeat HIV test in 6 months. This is a high risk contact for HIV.  Use condoms for protection!

Should be less: In us(oops, ontario, ca!)  we get results back in three days, on average.  There may have been issues in sorting and distributing the specimen to centralized labs that has caused the delay.  Lab tests are done in batches, so blood may sit for a while waiting for the batch to be completed before any testing is done on the entire batch.  Culture specimens may take thre to five days for a result.

is it possible for someone to have hsv2 and not know it? would a basic std test show if you had it or do you need to be tested specifically for it?

HSV + without lesion: A person can be infected with HSV2 without active lesions, which then during periods of stress, etc., become active and infectious or may be dormant.   Most STD testing is is for chlamydia, gc, syphyllis, and HIV, but an blood antibody test for HSV2 can be done to show prior infection or recent infection.  Due to sexual practices, both HSV1 and 2 can give lesions on face and genitals.

i got an std test and im unsure what the results mean.  i tested positive for hsv 1.10.   is that hsv 1? common cole sores?

Herpes type 1 : A positive hsv 1 titer does not mean much. 90% of americans have this result meaning they have an antibody indicating past exposure to herpes type 1. This is the virus that causes cold sores. In general it is not considered an std although it can be transmitted during oral sex.

std test in couples conclusive if they we were tested at different times during the relationship. 4yrs together. women test negative 2yrs in, for gc/chy and male test negative 3yrs in. are we free as a couple from these since we didn't test same time?

See below: You have caught both herpes and syphilis.  The culture is definitive and herpes is typically not in blood.

i last had sex about a month ago. got an early detection std test just in case and i tested positive for ureaplasma parvum. i'm completely asymptomatic. should i do something about it or just ignore it?

: Ignore it. Ureaplasma parvum is a normal bacteria that never causes any health problem.

if i tested positive for having bv is it more likely i will test positive for having an std? had unprotected sex with a partner i had been with a month prior, no new partner inbetween. prior std test negative?

Accepted Answer

: Bacteria vaginosis BV does increase risk of acquisition of STD only if your partner has STD that could be transmitted. If your partner did not have STD when you had intercourse then you are unlikely to get another STD.

i am getting urine tested tomorrow morning for an std test, if i was to drink alcohol tonight would that be okay or would it effect the test results?

Accepted Answer

No: The test looks for genetic material specific for the germs tested. It is not altered by an evening of social drinking.
