Life expectancy: It depends on how extensively the metastatic disease has spread prior to the surgery.  Only the oncologist who consults with the surgeon can provide in a particular case a reasonable "guess" as to length of survival for this disease.

Doubtful: The cancer cell type will determine some issues of familial risk, but the 2 most common cell types causing appendiceal cancer are not familial types

Yes, but why: Why are you pre-occupied with your appendix. Removing the appendix without a good reason is unwarranted. Do you have ovarian cancer?

i have a 3.3 x 2.3 x 2.4 cm cyst on the tip of my appendix.  surgery is scheduled this week.  is there any chance that this is not cancer?

Yes: There are several lesions that are benign, mucocele, carcinoid tumor, granuloma from infection, & xanthogranulomatous appendicitis. Adenocarcinoma of appendix occurs infrequently.

Abscess on appendix: They would have to remove appendix  ( sometimes they first give antibiotics to cool down the infection  or drain before surgery as to avoid sepsis)  and send it to pathology .Once the infection is controlled they may want to do a colonoscopy as well and check for polyps. .But also consider Crohns disease or ulcerative colitis.

Neither: It is highly unlikely that you have either appendix or colon cancer. You are probably pressing on the cecum and ascending colon the liquid stool is making the sound. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco or alcohol in any form.

See below: Pls have your checked, it may be inflammation of your pancreas , gallbladder problem or inflammation in the stomach. Your doctor can differntiate this by physical exam and or tests depending on physical findings.
