Depends: There is no hard and fast rule.  It depends on how much trauma or force is applied to the brain.  There is no specific number or grading scale to measure how hard you have to be hit to cause enough damage to the brain to go into a coma.

Heat Injury: Loss of consciousness? Headache? Visual changes? Dizziness? Balance problems? Ringing in the ears?  Confused? Emotionally labile?  If you are feeling ill since your head injury then please get prompt medical attention.

Depends on care: Survival is very much dependent on the care he receives and the reason for his comatose state.  If he sustained a serious bleed in the brain then that will need to be surgically drained.  If his comatose state is due to swelling of the brain then measures to reduce swelling will hasten his recovery.  Bicycle falls in the absence of an impact say from a motor vehicle are not likely to be fatal.

: Attempting to interpret your post, in the absence of temporal duration, age, prior health, medications being used, and "brain stem" signs, it would be fair to state that prognosis would be guarded at best.  An EEG at this point might objectify underlying brain function. Ongoing conferences with the medical team are advised.  Wish you and the family the best outcome.

Probably no risk: Coma occurs with specific insults to the brain diffusely or focal problems in the brainstem.  Common headaches such as migraine or tension events would not cause coma, unless signs of severe underlying problems.

Head injury coma: Typically this treatment is used to help reduce swelling in the brain and to reduce metabolic needs of the cerebrum. Treatment is usually weaned as the brain swelling improves, typically one to two weeks. Complications of immobility such as pneumonia and infections limit long term use.
