Keep it clean!!: If you are going to remove skin tags at home, make sure to clean the area with rubbing alcohol. You can use clean fingernail scissors to cut them at the base. Place a bandage on the cut area. Hold pressure on the area  to control bleeding. Apply a thin layer of polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) to help with healing.

Not really.: Ak stands for "actinic keratosis" - they are small crusty bumps caused by chronic sun damage. Dermatologists usually freeze them with liquid nitrogen; for severe cases a strong cream containing 5-FU or Imiquimod is used. Skin tags can be clipped off, or if they are large enough, you can tie a thread around each one to cut off blood supply. But most people (wisely, i think) let their doctor do this.

Excise: Best to have an ophthalmologist or dermatologist remove it and send it to pathology to make sure it's not a skin cancer.  Done in office.

Having multiple skin tags is associated with insulin resistance in diabetes, a high body mass index, and high triglycerides. HPV, pregnancy and genetics can also play a role.

See below: You can try clipping them off with a small pair of scissors. It will be a little painful, and there will be a small amount of bleeding after. Also, make sure you ckean the area well with alcohol prior to snipping.
