Breath holding: is common with acute anxiety and panic and is not dangerous.  Treatment of the anxiety resolves this issue.

Anesthesiologist: You could speak with the anesthesiologist who helped you through your surgery.  S/he would have been monitoring your status at all times while the surgeon was working on you.  You can also get a copy of the or report, which may or may not include this information since it would have been dictated by the surgeon.

Yes: The new diagnostic manual for psychiatrists the dsm-v acknowledges that panic attacks can accompany several mental illnesses in a way that should be considered simultaneously and can be a specifier for a more severe and complex variety of illness. The reason this is significant is because previously in dsm-iv it was less clear which symptoms were severe mental illness or a separate panic disorder.

Panic attacks: and migraines can produce visual phenomena.  Please see you doc to rule out any medical condition.  He/she may refer you to an opthamologist.  After that you can see a mental health professional for help w/anxiety.  Peace and good health.

what are some good relaxation techniques to use during anxiety or during a panic attack?

Try smoking (?): What! On a Health Website? I mean the breathing pattern - w/out a cigarette! Actually, many smokers benefit from the breath pattern w/out knowing the role it plays. The deep inhale, hold, and full exhale thru the lips is very good for you. It reduces BP and HR. Part of "I need a smoke!" is about this. So, don't use tobacco - but take the time of a cigarette and breathe that way whenever you want.

i'm a 21 yr old female who suffers from anxiety/panic attacks. during an attack my hr can get up to 150-160. is this dangerous?

Possibly: You should be in treatment and have an anxiolytic available to reduce these panic attacks.  SSRI treatment and psychotherapy will be more beneficial long term, and then you can get off the benzodiazapines, thereafter.  150-160 is a good target heart rate when you are doing cardiovascular exercise, so you should consider that along with your overall health.

Hundreds!: There are lots of chemical reactions going on in our body at any time.  With fear (whether to a known cause or due to panic attacks which can happen for unclear reasons or with no definite threat) one of the main ones is the adrenaline surge (fight or flight response) which causes a multitude of reactions itself. Evaluation: You may need to go to the doctor and make sure y our dosage for Prozac (fluoxetine) is appropriate as the dosing can cause some of the symptoms you are describing.

No, you didn&#x27;t die: No you didn&#x27;t die, but you could have passed out from anxiety.  Your blood pressure and pulse were elevated but still bearable -- especially in a healthy young 30 year old woman.  If troubled with anxiety ; panic attacks, please see your physician for general evaluation.  Also please consider working with a psychiatrist and/or psychologist to address your anxieties.   Good treatment is available.

is it bad to switch off between taking ativan and klonopin? i usually take klonopin if i wake up with alot of anxiety and ativan for sudden panic attacks during the day. is this okay or will it cause problems?

Anti-anxiety meds: Sounds confusing and probably unnecessary to take both meds for anxiety. The problem may be over dosing or taking too much of these meds. Discuss with prescriber and consider an SSRI or similar med for better coverage of anxiety. Hope this helps.
