: I tiny cut is relative.  I don't think any one can be sure without seeing it. You should have protection from tetanus. Speak to your doctor

No medication: Do your gums bleed? The best treatment for periodontitis is a through professional dental cleaning. All the tartar (hard deposits) and plaque (soft deposits) need to be removed from your teeth. Then you should have proper brushing and flossing instruction so you can maintain a healthy mouth.

Exam!: It's not a good idea to self-treat this type of problem. You could have a bacterial infection or trichomoniasis. There are other possible causes of your problem such as a cyst, allergies &amp; sex without enough lubrication. You must be properly evaluated at a medical clinic to be treated appropriately for your problem. So please get a medical exam as soon as possible. I wish you well!

Not needed: In general,  fluid behind the ear drum by itself doesn't need an "antiseptic" or antibiotic. If the fluid is infected that is a different story and antibiotics can be helpful. If fluid formed because of a nasal or sinus infection then again an antibiotic can help. Most antibiotics in common use such as amoxil, augmentin, ceftin, (cefuroxime) Bactrim etc... Are helpful.

Confusing question: I am not aware of any antiseptic drugs used in the treatment of otitis media. However, we do use antibiotics.Those used vary by the age of the patient, the germ expected, personal allergy history and other factors derived by an office visit.Your pcp can sort this out. This site is not a substitute for an office evaluation when indicated.

Antiseptic: Ethanol in antiseptic wipes and sanitizing hand gels is about 62%. 100% ethanol is irritating & drying to the skin & can cause bacteria to form a protective protein shell. Generally, 62-70% is recommended for antisepsis.

Cinnamon: This herb/spice has been claimed in the lay press to have wide antibacterial activities, and has traditionally been used in some societies to treat infection.  Not aware that there is scientific controlled evidence to support these claims.

savlon cleansing wipes with antiseptic.  these should not be used on wounds.  i cleaned a small cut with one without realising.  is this dangerous?

Accepted Answer

No.: Savlon wipes are marketed for "on the go" wound cleansing and hand sanitizing.  It would be more "dangerous" to delay cleansing a fresh wound.  Most likely Savlon wipes contain the antiseptic chlorhexidine which is often used in hospitals &amp; other medical settings.  Check the ingredients on the container and use them only as directed.  You should be perfectly safe.
