Med hair loss: Antidepressants have been reported in case reports to both cause and benefit "alopecia", hair loss.  In a very small double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 14 patients taking Imipramine 75 mg/day had significantly more hair regrowth than did control subjects, an effect that was independent of  reductions in anxiety or depression. Psychotherapy and meditation are being studied to reduce alopecia.

First: talk To your doctor about other causes. To my knowledge hair loss would be a rare side effect only with antidepressants and antipsychotics. Please explore a more common cause first which will dictate a different approach to treatment.

See a dermatologist: It is certainly possible that your hair loss on top is a part of your described male pattern baldness. It can happen at your age. However, an examination of your scalp and pattern of hair loss would be best to determine if there are any other explanations. A dermatologist is most often the best person to see though some primary care doctors are comfortable evaluating hair loss.

Could be months: Your hair is not lost, just breaking off. It should grow out normally, but may take several months since hair grows intermittently not continuously. Give it time, and avoid chemical treatments. Continue the iron to build your blood count back toward normal.

See dermatologist: You need to properly diagnose  this hair loss. Should it be the very common androgenetic alopecia, known as male pattern baldness, he will provide you with possibly an oral med along with a topical otc med to help you. However, it just might be something different, and that is why you should be evaluated.

Wouldn't help: It's not that it would interfere, it's that it wouldn't help! also, you don't know what's in the product you take, since it's not checked or inspected. Further, all "supplements" can have adverse side effects. Don't get your medical education from tv or the internet.

Too many reasons: Stress, hormonal disturbance, infection (of hair follicles), chemotherapy/use of immunosuppressant, autoimmune disorders, thyroid disease, just name a few.
