: Even after full antibiotic treatment for acute epididymitis you may have to wait a.little longer to have sex as tenderness in your testicles is common for days or more.

Epididymitis: I have found that the epididymus doesn't like to be messed with and even though the acute phase with pain,redness,swelling subsides with appropriate treatment, the epididymus can remain tender for years after even though there's no more infection. If enough scarring occurred it could block sperm transmission in only that testicle.

Yes: Chronic infection can lead to a diminished sperm production as well as scarring  in the epididymis to cause obstruction.  High oral fluid intake along with hot baths and anti-inflammatory medications may give you some symptomatic relief. Continue to monitor closely with your doctor.

can i be prescribed more intense antibiotics to try to cure chronic epididymitis? ive only been on a few with no results. last urologist said all he could offer was cortisone injection into epididymis. i want to avoid that because im scared of risk

I do not agree: Antibiotics  for bacterial epididymitis  but not always needed , surgery may needed in chronic cases 
NSAIDs may help

: It will not slow the healing process. But if you can wait till you are OK is recommended.

See comment: Epididymitis,inflammation of the "coils" of small tubes transporting sperm when inflammed cause swelling and varying degree of pain.
1) Treatment with antibiotic
2) Elevate the scrotum
3)Use of anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen 3 x
a day
4) When feasible stay off your feet for few days
All these should be under direction of a urologist,or at least any doctor

Yes: Epi occurs mostly after heavy lifting with a full bladder..resulting in chemical epi.  Get it once, about 30% chance of getting again. Get it 2x. ..about 100% of getting it again.  Treat with antibiotics, hot sitz baths, pain meds, scrotal support and empty bladder before straining at work or play.  Close to 95% chance of cure the first time.
