Best to see MD: There is a side effect of fluoroquinolones wherein, there develops inflammation in the tendon (tendonitis) which can cause softening of those attachments to the point of rupture. Don't move those tendons too much right now, allow cooling off and see your doctor as you may need treatment if that is the case.

The : The purpose of the Prednisolone for her pneumonia is to decrease the inflammation in her lungs to make it easier for her to breathe while the antibiotic kills the bacteria causing the infection.  If she is unable to take this medication and appears to be in respiratory distress, you should return to the er.  Otherwise, call her doctor for a follow-up visit as soon as possible.  They will be able to evaluate her and decide whether she really needs the Prednisolone or if there is another medication that may be useful such as albuterol treatments or injectable steroid. Depends: This is a good question.  Geographic location plays an important role in these decision.  There are different resistance patterns in different communities.  Here in chicago, we use the fluoroquinolone class as first line (levaquin (levofloxacin) or avelox).  There are many different options in addition to these.

E.coli PNA: ciprofloxacin or Levaquin usually works well . also Ceftriaxone IV or Ceftin (cefuroxime) oral works as well.
we need to test the E.coli and find out what is the best ABx for it as we have some resistant patterns.

Omncicef: If taken befire his dinner, then no need to take another round, it would have been absorbed already into his system, if otherwise, no harm of repeating the dose, wish you and your son wellness
