Lichen Planus: Wikipedia: LP is a disease of the skin and/or mucous membranes that resembles lichen. The cause is unknown, but it is thought to be the result of an autoimmune process with an unknown initial trigger. There is no cure, but many different medications and procedures have been used to control the symptoms.

i have seb derm and have been treated it with medication. hairfall started suddenly at 14 now i am 18. hair is thinner on top and hair line is receding. i get throbbing pains in 'boney' part of scalp, can feel the pain in temples too. am i balding?

: Molding itself is not painful. If someone has discomfort in the scalp and their hair falling  out, recommend seeing a dermatologist to see if there’s an underlying skin condition causing this.

derm prescribed moxonidine 200mg x 2 /week for redness associated with rosacea.  at 51 i  have hot/cold flashes, dry mouth/eyes and palpitations. (ectopics) will any of these symptoms improve or get worse on this medication?

Chronic inflammation: Many different things can cause itching. The perianal skin is especially sensitive.  Common causes of itchiness include aggressive cleaning of the perianal skin, dairy products, caffeine containing foods and certain fruits.  The common diagnosis is pruritis ani.  Some diseases such as lichen sclerosis can also cause itching. Biopsies help determine if there is an underlying cause of the itching.

is it true that most drug store brands and not derm sold sun screens are not effective bc they don't hv titanium dioxide? ie elta, that's what dm said

That is not true: In the U.S., there are several ingredients commonly used in today&#x27;s sunscreens.  If the sunscreen protects against both UVA and UVB ultraviolet radiation from the sunlight, then it does work.  One can get an idea of how well it works by looking at the SPF number (for example, SPF 8, SPF 15, SPF 30).  However, a person may see little difference in effect among high SPF&#x27;s (SPF 40 is similar to 60).

i know it is well documented that drinking alcohol when on accutane isn't a great idea. one derm said recreational  party drugs, whilst a bad idea in general for your health, are probably not much extra worse when on roaccutane? true?

: Re-word your question however you like. If you want to avoid the consequences of drug interactions and potential damage to your system you avoid those that use the same pathway. Do as you wish. The risk is yours to take.

Aesthetician schools: The field of dermatology is a medical specialty requiring 4 years training after completing 4 years of medical school which is after 4 years of college. I'm not aware of any specific college that specializes in dermatology as an undergrad major. esthetician vs. dermatology rn, which should i see?

Depends on need...: ...are you looking for a cosmetic procedure, or a dermatology exam for a diagnosis?   Esthetician is restricted to cosmetic procedures, but is specifically trained that field.    A dermatology registered nurse may or may not have experience or training in cosmetic procedures, but would be able to handle dermatology examinations and treatments almost at level of a dermatologist.

Climate change.: A change of climate or environment will often flare seborrheic dermatitis. Most cases can be controlled adequately with a good over-the-counter anti-seborrhea shampoo and Hydrocortisone cream. Stubborn cases require prescription products. But it will always come back and require re-treatment, because the yeast that causes it is a normal component of your skin.
