: You are 32 years old so I guess your daughter is less than 12 years old. Angina pectoris caused by heart disease is very rare at this age but your daughter still needs to be evaluated thoroughly.

Angina: Angina basically means chest pain.  There are symptoms that tend to tell us that someone is having a heart attack.  One can have squeezing type of chest pain, or a heaviness on the chest.  The pain can radiate up to the neck, jaw, or left shoulder and arm.  There is usually shortness of breath, and cold sweats, as well as palpitations.  Nausea and vomiting can also occur.

Stitch?: If this is a sharp pain that's worse when you inhale, does not feel like it's taking your breath away but does make breathing uncomfortable, then it's probably the familiar "texidor's twinge". If the pain proves refractory or you lose your breath or are obviously sick, get seen.

Can't see pic: But angina is usually associated with pain with exertion, and relieves/improves with rest. Do you have that characteristics? Is it tender on touch/palpation?

Non cardiac : You likely have non cardiac chest pain given your age and description of the pain, could be anxiety. Nevertheless chest pain should never be taken lightly. You should seek medical attention at your doctors clinic and get examined. They will likely get an ecg. I don't think you need a stress test but your doctor is the best determinant of that.

Angina pectoris: If you even suspect that you may be having angina you should be seen and examined.  On the other hand, coronary insuffficiency in a 22 year old is not very common.  See a cardiologist and get tested.  It cannot hurt anything but your wallet, and could save your life.

Not angina: "texidor's twinge", "stitch" or what-have-you. Your description is classic. This is very common and i believe it's caused by a little transient wrinkle in the pleura. It vanishes when you fill your lungs to maximum capacity, right?

chest pain off and on monday for a few minutes. lower sternum area. not again until friday. went to er. my ekg and blood was fine. still worried its angina of a pending heart attack. dr was not very helpful. i'm 36, no risk factors. should i go back?

Angina?: If you were concerned about a heart related cause of your pain, it would not be unreasonable to pursue further testing. Especially being that you are a woman; we tend to under-recognize the possibility of heart disease in women as a medical community. Stress test would be helpful to confirm or deny the possibility of heart disease.

Determination of the: cause of chest pain is more than just from a blood test.  As you can readily have concerning heart disease and normal blood testing.  It taking in account someone's history of chest pain, his/her cardiac risk factors, electrocardiograms, blood tests and more.  Remember you can have angina and normal troponins.  But if you are 23 and having chest pain, it's incredibly rare that you have angina.
