Your anemia is another issue and needs evaluation by a physician (p). You are on iron supplements and patients that are iron deficient have high p counts. You need medical help to find the cause(s) of your anemia, which could be blood loss, among others. See a p.

Need more tests,,,: This is hard to determine as this is the case of a child. Other tests like a peripheral blood smear might help to find the cause.  It would be best to see the doctor, preferably a pediatrician, for more tests and an exam.  Best of luck.

Underlying cause ?: These are each signs of disease - need to find underlying cause to fix. High platelets and high WBC come from any kind of inflammation (infection, autoimmune, injury, etc), high potassium can be cellular damage or kidneys not working well. Anemia can be from internal or external bleeding, blood cells being destroyed, or inability to create enough new rbcs (nutritional or bone marrow problem).

: There are a few possibilities, but two of the most likely are myelodysplasia (a cancer-like condition of the bone marrow) and chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). He should see a hematologist/oncologist, who will be able to make an accurate diagnosis with just a few tests. Good luck to him.

Can cause: Yes, studies have reported that iron deficiency anemia can cause increase risk of blood clots, however they are not clear if from high platelets, or small RBC size which bounces off more on the endothelial vessel lining, or possible increase in F-VIII levels

See below: Anemia can cause an elevated platelet count.  Lupus is rare when ANA is negative and is less likely with a high platelet count and white blood cell count.  The old mono that you mention is probably past exposure to mono.  If you are not seeing a hematologist, you want to consider it.

See a doctor ASAP: This sounds quite severe. Platelets are increased by anything stimulating the bone marrow. This can be caused by infection, autoimmune diseases, leukemia, and other conditions. If you are severely anemic and taking nsaids like Naproxen you should stop until sure you are not bleeding.  You really should seek medical care immediately.  Hope you are better soon.
