IUD: The short answer is yes. There is no way for you really to know unless a skilled professional who has done a lot of IUD insertions examines you first. Difficulty also includes the type of IUD used. Why guess about it?

can you explain why i have "signs" of ovulating if both my tubes are removed? is the egg still finding its way to my uterus? unsure of the anatomy.

Accepted Answer

Probably not: Ovulation happens on your ovaries rather than your fallopian tubes.  The fallopian tubes pick up the egg after ovulation and transport it to the uterus.  Fertilization frequently takes place during the journey down the tube.  If you have no tubes but have ovaries you will still ovulate but the egg will be re-absorbed by your body.  It would be unlikely for an egg to make it to the uterus.

Can be: The answer depends on the level of obesity, the underlying medical conditions and the comfort level and experience of the surgeon. Part of the art of surgery is choosing the correct surgical approach for each patient and each condition.

Retrouterine fluid ?: With a history of "multiple cysts" in the ovaries, fluid detection on U/S is most likely due to spontaneous rupture of one or more cysts, and is not dependent on the day of your cycle.  Without fever, pelvic pain or other signs of infection/inflammation, the fluid seen on ultrasound is benign and of little significance.

what can small amount of free fluid behind uterus seen on two different u/s mean? they have been done on day 10 of cycle. they see multiple cysts on each ovary. is it normal to see fluid behind uterus on this day of cycle? shouldn't it be gone?

Fluid: It takes a while for fluid from a likely ruptured cyst to absorb. It does not sound concerning especially if they think it is coming from a cyst.

Visualisation: a transvaginal ultrasound should show your ovaries.

TAHBSO: well we do try to avoid that at your age, but the surgery itself is relatively common and has the usual surgical risks.  However, on rare occasions it has to be done for young women.  IF very concerned ask for a second opinion.

See below: The missing ovary, in and of itself, is not a risk for a prolapsed uterus.

Anatomical variation: The ovarian pedicle is a stalk like structure, some shorter, some longer, and ovaries are not normally fixed to pelvic wall.
