i was checked out by my doctor and she said i have an anal fissure. my question is, do anal fissures bleed a lot? and do they cause blood clots?

Depends: There are a lot of qualitative terms in your question. 

Anal fissures normall cause bleeding that you see on the toilet paper or toilet bowl. A small drop of blood in a large bowl of water can seem like a lot of blood. 

Depends on how you are rating what a lot of blood is, when and where you are seeing it and other symptoms.  

Blood clots are not typical for a fissure, but possible.

Could be: Fissures are usually associated with pain during and after a bm. Your symptoms could very well be secondary to hemorrhoids. You would need an anorectal exam to identify the source and differentiate the 2. I would rcommend getting an exam by your primary md or a gi/colorectal surgeon if you have seen any in the past.

Anal fissure..: Probably is a fissure. Start Metamucil and use plain preparation H up inside twice daily for one week. Warm tub soaks will help. If not better in a week, see closest colon &amp; rectal surgeon.

Rectal bleeding: Copious rectal bleeding, or bleeding with associated light-headedness or dizziness should be evaluated immediately in the emergency department.  Small amounts of blood or sporadic bleeding should be evaluated but can be done in your doctor's office.  Do not skip this step; any bleeding has the potential of being very serious.

hi, i've got an anal fissure and for the past 5 days now it's been hurting quiet a bit, the pain has become so uncomfortable and unbearable even when i'm not using the toilet, there is no blood, i have tried a suppository but to no avail, it hurts?

Colorectal surgeon: I recommend consulting a colorectal surgeon for evaluation,treatment and follow-up. I'm concerned that you may have a perirectal abscess which would be best treated by a colorectal surgeon. Also, appropriate follow-up is crucial for best results.

Probably: Each donation center will have its own list of excluded conditions or exposures that would refuse your donation. However, I don't recall this as ever being on such a list and don't see why it would. It is not a contagious condition.

Anal fissure: Anal fissure may sometimes be the forerunner of crohns disease. Check with a gastroenterologist. He may want to perform a colonoscopy to rule out crohns disease.

Yes and yes: pain at the anus can cause spasm and decrease blood supply .  This exacerbates the fissure and the whole problem becomes cyclical .  Most often can be cured with a topical cream or ointment.  Resistant ones need surgery

Can't be sure: A fissure is more likely to have a few drops of blood after passing a stool or on toilet paper.  If blood is related to diarrhea, i would expect it to be mixed in with the poop and there might also be mucous.  Sometimes the same condition causes both diarrhea and fissures.
