2days ago my 10momth old was prescribed amoxicillin for ear infection today i noticed a rash on the sides of his face. should i be concerned?

Call Pediatrician: Pediatrician should be notified immediately.  Could be from the bacteria that's responsible to the ear infection.  Could be allergic response to the amoxicillin.  Call pediatrician now.

Yes: if it is hives it is anaphylaxis and needs immediate attention
how if he is exposed to a virus like infec mononucleosis
amoxicillin can give a fine rash  and in that condition  and rash stops when you stop medicine and does not come back on restarting

Not likely: Previous rash after antibiotic? Usual rash due to Amoxicillin allergy is a rash of entire skin.

Your : Your reaction is less likely due to the fact that the medication was expired than to an underlying allergy the medication or to something else you were exposed to.  Have you taken Amoxicillin in the past without problems?  Have you taken any other medications in the past 24 hours? Any new shampoos or soaps (including laundry soap)?

Benadryl is a pretty good medication for controlling allergy symptoms. The fact that the symptoms returned later suggests that you may have been exposed again.

Call your doctor: call the doctor who prescribed the antibiotics.  Not all rashes are the same.  They look different and can be caused by different things depending on if your child has had the antibiotic before and how many doses the child has taken.  Rashes in a child may be due to a virus and not antibiotics.   Call your doctor.

i've been on amoxicillin for 5 days, for an abscessed tooth,  yesterday a red rash on my upper feet, ankles, calves, and on my arms appear.  i have a sinus pressure in the front of head, and a slight headache, nothing major. should i be concerned?

: Yes. You may be having allergic reaction to Penicillin. Call your Dentist immediately. Also note that PCN will not cure infection, only limit spread of infection. Specific dental treatment is mandated.

Rash: Yes, Amoxicillin is one of the most common causes of drug reaction rashes. If the redness occurred within a few days or up to 2 weeks after taking it, i would avoid it for the future.

Stop antibiotic: If you develop any rash after taking an antibiotic it is best to stop and call your dentist for a different drug.

Possibly: Amoxicillin is a great for an ear infection. Yet, some people have allergies to penicillin.  However, what makes this hard to answer is sometimes agents that cause ear infections can cause a rash too!  if it is only a light red rash and he has no other signs of something bothering him, you can watch to see if it goes away.But if any sores are in his mouth or a high fever he must be seen right away.

: Pediatricians in the US quit recommending these antihistamine products for cough/cold symptoms under age 6 decades ago. They usually thicken mucus secretions and may make it harder for babies to expel retained mucus. I would not.
