Btw, antibiotics like Amoxicillin only work against bacteria but not against virus which cause most common colds & sort throats.

The physician would have prescribed the amoxicillin in the dosage that is correct.  As a general rule, it is 40 mg/kg per day divided into 2-3 doses for a strep infection.  Amount depends on concentration.
