Need more than that: It is not the doc for chlamydia  u need zithromycin or Doxycycline and if u have pid with other organisms as well you need multiple antibiotics and stronger ones than amox-clav  please discuss with your gyn.

i may have recently been exposed to chlamydia. im a female; exposed partner is male. im currently taking augmentin twice daily (875mg amoxicillin / 125mg k clav, 20 tablets) for unrelated reasons. will the augmentin treat chlamydia, if i have it?

: Amoxicillin has modest activity against chlamydia -- not reliable for cure, but probably would prevent infection if exposed while taking it. But don't rely on it:  if defintiely exposed (i.e. your partner has a positive test), you should be treated with azithromycin or doxycycline. If not certain about exposure, play it safe and get tested for chlamydia 1-2 weeks after finishing amox/clav.

If dosed right: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) would help kill off some strains of gonorrhea, but not all. It would likely do nothing for chlamydia and many other STI's. It would be best to get in to see a provider knowledgeable about current treatment protocols and get correct treatment, if needed.This is nothing you would want to self treat with borrowed meds. Several of these germs can make you sterile.

Yes, reliable: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) could interfere with NAAT testing for either gonorrhea or chlamydia, but not this soon. It would take several days of treatment to have any effect. Your negative test is reliable for both gonorrhea and chlamydia.

i have taken 4 x 250g of azithromycin for chlamydia infection, and had a episode of diarrhoea 6 and 1/2 hours later, is it still effective?

Side Effect: It's likely that the diarrhea you experienced was a side effect of the azithromycin so you should be fine, although I am sorry you had to go through that, that's never fun. If you find you are still experiencing symptoms of the chlamydia then talk to your doctor about other treatment options.

hello,i just took a 1 gram powder from of azithromycin for chlamydia infection but vomited within 30min to an hr of taking should i be perscibed more ?

Get re-treated: Unfortunately, azithromycin can be quite irritating to the stomach and intestines and sometimes causes nausea and vomiting. Research has shown that with vomiting later than 30 minutes, enough drug is retained to cure chlamydia. But up to 30 minutes, re-treatment is necessary. Ask your doctor about getting pills instead of the powder form; or use doxycycline, which requires 7 days treatment.

No: Impotence (erectile dysfunction) is pretty common regardless of whether you have an infection or not. I'm not aware of any link between sexually transmitted diseases and ed. However, i can picture a situation where one develops ed after having caught an std. Why? Because you're afraid to catch another one. But aside from that fear, infection doesn't cause ed. Ps always wear a condom to lower risk.

Sometimes: There are more resistant strains of chlamydia so not all are sensitive to the fluoroquinones.

If you are not: Drinking continuously....(whole new set of problems), and only have an occasional drink not within two hours of the medication it should still be effective.

Chlamydia Treatment: Azitromycin, erythromycin, Doxycycline and levofloxaci/ofloxacin can all be used to treat chlamydia infection of the cervix. Norfloxacin is similar to levofloxaci/ofloxacin  but it has not been recommended for this purpose.
