: Although it is likely that you would not have any kind of reaction to kissing your husband, if your penicillin allergy was anaphylactic in nature and was severe, I would still avoid any body. Fluid contact with him. If it was not a severe reaction, you are probably OK. Good luck

You are not/yet: Allergy to meds is not inherited &amp; much of what people assume is allergic reactions are not based on testing. Since you have taken amoxicillin in the past without problems you are not allergic. That does not mean you will not become allergic at some point in the future, but that would be possible at the same rate as any other person.

Similar: The amoxicillin in Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) and Penicillin share a common core structure and thus people allergic to Penicillin are almost always allergic to amoxicillin.  On the other hand, not all people reacting to amoxicillin are allergic to penicillin when the reaction is a skin rash.

tried trimethoprim, nitrofurantoin and cephalexin for uti. nothing has worked so far. i'm allergic to augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) and penicillin- what else can i try?

Infectious dis doc: First the problem may  be from inflammation and not infection. 2nd the organ may not  be sensitive to these antibiiotics  3rd there may be obstruction or a stone somewhere along the urinary tract.  You need to see an infectiious disease and/or urology specialist.

No: Many people have cross allergenicty to penicillin and amoxicillin.  Assuming you have a true allergy to one of these, it is best to avoid the other.  Talk to your physician about an alternate drug.
