i was wondering are stress buster balls good for shoulders?

If you use stress : Buster balls as a way of managing your stress if may help to prevent too much tension from building up in your neck ; shoulders. However, once a great deal of muscular tension sets in, they are less useful.

i am currently using urbanol for stress, i heard it is not advised to be used in the long term.

is there an alternative that i can use long term?

Stress and meds: Proper adjustment to stress is the only long lasting pattern of response that will not cause potential side effects. No meds have ever been proven to be safe when taken indefinitely. Clobazam or urbanol is a benzodiazepine that should only be used for short periods of time as its potential for side effects in the long term is high.

good morning, i have deep anxiety and stress and have been dealing with it for a year, its a bit much now. is there a medical alternative maybe ?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you and your symptoms warrant evaluation by a physician, preferably a psychiatrist. Talk therapy and/or medication may help. 
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Exercise: Stress is normal.  Do  not become a "chemical coper".  Exercise and relaxation techniques are far better for you than anti-anxiety medications.

does a stress mri or stress pet provide the same diagnostic information as a resting/exercise nuclear stress test (mibi). ive had many scans and am looking for alternatives to reduce exposure. thank you?

: A nuclear stress test has significant radiation exposure, equivalent to 400 chest xrays.  A MRI stress test has no radiation but uses IV gadolinium, a dye. I believe a PET Scan stress test has to use CT scanning which exposes you to significant radiation. I also believe that MRI stress testing is not readily available at most medical facilities

i am on cymbalta (duloxetine) for fibromyalgia pain exacerbated by stress. what alternatives do i have before  trying to conceive in the next few months?

None: If pregnancy is planned i would suggest you avoid taking any of the meds specifically approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia during the pregnancy.

She: Should have her thyroid checked and be sure she is not pulling it out. Stress management with exercise, healthy eating and talk therapy all help.

cardiology: what can an alternative to having a cardiac treadmill or nuclear injection stress test? a calcium score?

Accepted Answer

Calcium score: quantifies the amount of calcified plaques, but some plaques are not calcified.  Stress tests (treadmill or echocardiogram) measures function of the heart muscle, whether it is receiving enough oxygen from the coronary arteries.  So, short answer is, NO, calcium score is not alternative.  Ask your cardiologist for specific recommendation.

i see online it says no botox if you have ms or als. i had a -test 6 yrs ago but stress it may become + someday. i am looking at getting fillers (juvaderm) in my lips. would this be a safer alternative than botox? since it's not muscle related?

: Discus with your Dr who knows you, your medical  and your family history.  I know of no data  related to this for Juvaderm but you can search at pubmed.gov. Enter juvaderm AND  MS OR ALS and see.  Discuss with your Dr.   There are now genetic tests for ALS but discuss.

is selegiline a stimulant? can i take it to improve my stress, wakefulness and fatigue? we do not have adderall, (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) provigil type drug in our country. i am looking for alternative.

Not a stimulant.: Used to treat early Parkingson's disease. It has no other valid use in clinical medicine. If you are not anemic and your thyroid and adrenal glands are O.K. try cold showers. In my view attention deficit is over diagnosed and over treated. Depression often mistaken for attention deficit.
