Liver enzymes: This is a liver enzymes and the cut off will generally vary fromlab to lab but this may be nearly twice the normal level. It could be related to fatty liver from obesity, alcohol use or even viral hepatitis infections and many more reasons. The information needs to be put together by your dr to determine the diagnosis and work up.

my alt blood test came back  31 range  but my ast is ok which is 24 in range... should i be concern about my alt?  what should i take or avoid?

Abnormal LFT's: First you need a sonogram, mild elevations of liver function tests may just be fatty liver but you should be tested for viral hepatitis, Epstein Barr virus, cytomegallovirus also.  Avoid alcohol and potentially hepatotoxic drugs such as tylenol (acetaminophen).

alt blood test result is 81, the ast 39. i'm not a drinker, but am 50 pounds overweight with most of it in the belly. is nafld probably the  reason?

Exclude other causes: I assume you are  well.There are many causes of impaired liver function I note you are a nondrinker so that removes a common cause. Fifty pounds overweight, possible  NAFLD. Do you have diabetes? 
Are you taking medicines? 
Have you had Hepatitis B and C excluded? 
Hemochromatosis is a genetic disorder found  in people of Northern European origin and Wilson's disease is  rare cause. 
Get tested.

i have severe abdominal swelling since my supracervical hysterectomy, i am 10 weeks post op & have 54 alt blood test for liver, did surgery cause it?

Not sure: Mild alt elevation is not unusual after any surgery.  The abdominal swelling is concerning and you should really be examined by your gynecologist. Sometimes it takes awhile to feel normal afterwards, but it is difficult to assess online.

what is the difference between gpt, sgpt and alt? my blood test says i have a gpt is 51 with an upper limit of 40? is this something to worry or normal? i read up to 50 is considered normal but lab says 40 is normal?

: They measure different aspects of liver and other organ's  health. I would use the lab's normal values.  I would go to Wikipedia and read about them. For greater detail go to uptodate.com, pay a bit, and read all about them. They will have tables to help you understand what each one measures and what diseases make them go up and/or down. Then discuss with the Dr who ordered them and knows u.

Liver or muscle: Alt is a liver enzyme that is also present in muscle tissue. High levels could mean some inflammation of either of those areas but you need other, more specific tests to analyze the alt level correctly.

Likely nothing: The accepted range listed as normal varies by the lab used. A few points up or down from any reading has little significance even when at the high end of the listed normal. Diseases are often heralded by an increase equal to a doubling of the high normal or more.

Biliary colic: Must likely it is due the gallstones.Also the liver enzymes elevation so. Cholecystectomy or remove of gallbladderis is rrecommended.

It's OK: The average is 25 and +_ 1 sd is from 8 to 55. You don't interpret medical laboratory results in isolation but in a context.
