Great question.: In a small study performed years ago raw almonds were compared to roasted almonds and almond butter measuring their effect on lipids.  All products were helpful with raw and roasted almonds besting the almond butter.  With that said, while still healthy, roasting does increase the oxidation of fatty acids which is not considered a beneficial change.  So raw almonds best, roasted good, butter okay.

Nuts & omega 3: Tree nuts contain omega 3 in the form of Alpha linolenic acid. 1oz of walnuts, a handful, contains 2.5g of omega 3 much higher than in most other nuts containing less than 0.5g. 1oz of walnuts also provides 4g of protein, 2g of fiber, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant phytonutrients, minerals and vitamins.

No interactions: I typically use Drug-Drug Interaction Checker found at www.drugs.com which showed no interaction (http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=1633-0,1749-15695). However, be aware that milk thistle &amp; omega 3 fatty acids are dietary supplements in the States. As such, manufacturers are not required to prove safety or effectiveness prior to marketing. Plus risk of contamination.

What for?: What are you taking the non-prescription medications for?  Other than multivitamins, the supplements are likely to do more harm than good. Talk to the doctor who prescribed phentermine, before taking any OTC medications or herbals.

Fish best: No evidence taking capsules help. Recommendation is to eat fish at least twice a week.

: A brief comment:  several yrs ago, there was an extensive study from the Univ. of Pittsburgh Medical School, finding no significant or substantial cognitive value for Ginkgo Biloba.  So, save your money and do not search for "miracles" from Dr. Google!

You Like Fish Burps?: Better to split them up. Better absorbed with food. If you don't eat three meals a day then take two with one meal and one with another. but in this case food will help. Or, take the third with a healthy snack. Taking all three at once won't hurt but you want to get your money's worth, right? Also, if you eat some salmon that day, you can skip the supplement. The "real" thing is always better

In excess: Fish oil does have some properties as a blood thinner, and may, in the extreme, contribute to bruising or affect a patient in surgery.  Omega-3 supplements are usually restricted during the 10-14 days before major elective surgery, (along with Aspirin and anti-inflammatories).
