See an allergist : Your lip swelling may or may not be from an actual allergic reaction. Sometimes the condition can progress and cause swelling in the throat and block normal breathing. See your family doctor, internist or preferably an allergy/immunologist.

Lip swelling: These symptoms would be uncommon as a side effectof the capsacins (that make foods "hot"). Capsacins cause burning but not typically swelling. The possibility of a food allergy should be considered. Avoid repeated exposure until testing is done by rast  to cayenne, jalapeno, cilantro, garlic, tomato, onion, cumin or other other salsa ingredients identified (any physician can order these tests).

Lip swelling: Swelling of the lips, tongue and around the eyes is fairly common and called angioedema.  
This is similar to hives but a little deeper in the tissues and commonly occurs with hives. Treatment includes avoiding the trigger of the rash/swelling and antihistamines.  An allergist can help identify the trigger and optimize treatment.

It : It is possible to be allergic to almost anything...Especially depending on your definition of allergy.

Medically speaking, an allergy is a type of hypersensitivity disorder caused by the immune system. When a person's immune system over-reacts to a normally harmless substance in the environment, we call that an allergy. This over-reaction can bring on an inflammatory response which can range from uncomfortable to dangerous.

The main substance in juvederm is hyaluronic acid - a naturally occuring part of the extracellular matrix.  This is the scaffolding that surrounds all the cells in your body.  Thus, one would not expect an allergic reaction to this product.  With many topical medications (drops for example) the patient thinks that they are reacting to the medication when in reality they are reacting to the preservative in the drop or the carrier molecule.

Sometimes a patient will get a shot and have pain at the site or swelling or bruising and will tell me that they "must be allergic" to the medication.  Although this reaction is not wanted, it is not a true allergy and can happen even with injection of saline solution.

When in doubt...Skip it.

Angio edema : Any allergen can lead to this reaction.  It's wise to see your doctor and figure out what is causing it because it can lead to difficulty breathing or worse during reaction.

Probably not...: Airborne allergies usually affect the more sensitive 'skin' inside eyes, nose, and airways. While a contact allergic reaction could explain your symptoms, it sounds like you might have cheilitis, an inflammatory condition of the lip associated with B12 or iron deficiency and yeast infections. Rarely, it can be a side effect to some medicines for acne. You should see a dermatologist to be sure.

Dermatitis : This could be a skin reaction called contact dermatitis and usually is avoided and resolved after you stop using what potentially caused the problem.  When the reaction is severe topical steroids help but usually these should be prescribed after having skin changes looked  at.
