Mostly yes. It means: that you've never had hepatitis A (unless you were infected very recently) but also that you have no immunity to it either.  The context of a result is always important and I don't know the context.  Dr. Anne

good evening doctors. i apologize if this is a silly question....is it ok to use and to apply deodorant before having a fasting blood test? will the chemicals in the deodorant affect the blood test results?

: No. These do not penetrate your skin surface deep enough to enter the bloodstream and alter any test.

i had my fasted blood sugar test two days ago and it was 82. i have eaten a lot of sugar in the last two days since my blood test results. is it possible for me to develop diabetes in those two days even if i do not eat much sugar from now on?

: Mastering carbohydrate consumption is a lifetime crusade against possible diabetes type 2 (DM2).  Keeping weight down with protein, vegetables and limited carbohydrates will decrease likelihood of DM2 and the cardiovascular effects derivative of same.

CBC : CBC stands for complete blood count, which usually includes your WBC or white blood count, rbc or red blood count, hct which is your hematocrit, also a measure of your red blood cell level, and PLT or platelet count.

Yes: The normal levels of fibrinogen range from about 150-400mg/dl.  There are normal circumstances in which the level may be higher, e.g., pregnancy.  Any  lab value needs to be interpreted in the context of other health issues and this value may not be associated with a disease.  Do consult the doctor who ordered the blood test.

Not usually: Barium is an inert substance used as a contrast media for imaging studies. Specifically, it is used most common in gastrointestinal studies, as it coats the lining of the stomach, esophagus, and colon (among others) and allows for a radiologist to see details. It is not absorbed and is passed through the stool (which will appear white or pale).

Too broad: Drug/hormone/electrolyte levels can be tested for. In general, a CMP (comprehensive metabolic panel) looks at key electrolytes, kidney function and liver function. It gives a general idea of how things are doing, but there are thousands of blood tests that could be ordered, if the Dr needed to know something specific about your health.

It's working: If your B12 level has improved to normal it means the treatment works.

Likely nothing: The accepted range listed as normal varies by the lab used. A few points up or down from any reading has little significance even when at the high end of the listed normal. Diseases are often heralded by an increase equal to a doubling of the high normal or more.
