i get what seems to be hunger headaches if i go too long without eating but whenever i check my glucose its not considered in a low range. is it possible to have symptoms of hypoglycemia without the numbers being too low?

: You certainly can have symptoms without having the blood glucose be low.  You may try having a snack or small bottle of juice handy.

is reactive hypoglycemia common in a young slim person? i keep geting symptoms of it but tested negative for diabetes

No: Hypoglycemia is opposit to diabetes that is hyperglycemia. If hypoglycemia  happens frequently in a slim person, it usually indicates the person might not eat enough. Anorexia may be the reason if the slim person concerns her/his body shape. In rare case, insulinoma can cause frequent hypoglycemia too. Consult your doctor to check it up.

i took a blood sugar test due to having symptoms related to hypoglycemia for several months. it was 69mg/dl, is this low? what should i do now?

Not low blood sugar: Nope. That's stone-cold normal. Are you diabetic or obese? Unless you're on Insulin (or a few other drugs) for diabetes, hypoglycemia is very, very rare, and usually due to an insulin-producing tumor in the pancreas. "Hypoglycemia" used to be a common fad diagnosis, but it isn't a real diagnosis in those cases, and those people's symptoms have nothing to do with blood sugar levels. Look elsewhere!

when a diabetic patient stop feeling the symptoms of hypoglycemia (after how many times of this case in average)? & if a person had hypoglycemia symptoms many times in 2 months is he in danger of not feeling the symptoms of hypoglycemia after that?

: I'm not sure how many hypoglycemia episodes or insulin reactions it can take, but some patients do get hypoglycemic unawareness and it is dangerous. The way to combat this unawareness is to avoid hypoglycemia for 2 or 3 weeks by letting your sugar run a little high &amp; never below 55 or 60. You must work closely with your MD during this period though as you eventually readjust your dosing.

Hypoglycemia: Hypoglycemia is not a disease, it is a finding. There are multiple possible causes for low blood sugar.  The cause of hypoglycemia in a person informs whether it will be frequent or permananent or gone.

See endocrinologist: I know it is rare, but I have seen 2 very dramatic cases that turned out to be due to small , benign pancreatic insulin- secreting tumors. Anyone else here have any other ideas ?

Yes: Blurred vision is one symptom of hypoglycemia.  It is also a symptom of hyperglycemia.  Check your blood sugar during the episode to see if sugar issue is the culprit.

No: In my 35 years of practice, I have never seen a case of reactive hypoglycemia.  The disorder doesn't exist, if you're overweight the symptoms are a natural response to your glucose level returning to normal.  Don't waste your money on a GTT or any fad diets of treatments. Lose wt if heavy.
