More Pills?: I have several friends with the same struggle. Two have won the battle with the help of aa and modern medicine. Start with aa in your area and believe you want to win the battle as my two friends have then seek out good therapy to discover why you are depressed. It could be a chemical imbalance or just something that needs to be resolved from within. Enjoy the journey, win the battle, be free/hppy.

Both and more: Your question can take a book to answer, but simply: yes, even in the newest dsm, it is a diagnosis. Also, as you note - it is a way of life that (at the extreme of addiction) certainly involves disorders. Last i heard, 12-step programs were still the most successful way to deal with addictions of all types. Good luck!

: Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, can cause this sensation as well as cough. Have the person seen by a doctor because this can be treated by medication. Staying upright for at least 30 minutes after eating is also helpful. A doctor can explore other causes of these symptoms as well so see a doctor ASAP! Good luck!

You should be fine: Usually after 48 hours you should of formed a mature blood clot by now. If you wanted to be extra careful you may want to stay away from carbonated drinks for another 24 hours.  I typically ask my patients to stay away from carbonated drinks for 72hr. To help avoid loosing the blood clot.

Alcohol and Medicati: The answer really depends on the other medications.  If the other medication(s) are central nervous system depressants, mixing with alcohol can be dangerous or even deadly.  Some medications can have an additive liver toxicity when mixed with alcohol.  Just to be on the safe side, avoid mixing medications with alcohol.
