Should not persist: Might you have nausea from medications. Nausea can be induced by many narcotics or other meds prescribed for pain, or some antibiotics.

Tamsulosin: generally medication is cleared from the system and for half-lives.  with a half-life of 15 hours that means tamsulosin should be cleared from your system within three days

i have 8mm kidney stone. is it big enough to cause constant gross hematuria? can it pass naturally? what are my options to get it removed if hematuria persists and natural passing isnt possible?

Urologist: You should consult a urologist to ascertain if the stone is suitable for lithotripsy, endoscopic removal or would require open surgery. Once the stone is out, if the blood in urine persists, it would require and evaluation.

Yes: I am glad it is over and hope it does not happen again. Stay well hydrated all the time. Do whatever gels okay. If a specific cause for your passing a stone can be found (parathyroid disease, infection, cystnuri tai), follow the specific Rx for it.

Few days: Are we sure the kidney stone passed.Is so there can be spasms of the ureter for a few days.Ask for tamulosin(Flomax) that will help .

It depends: It depends on the size and location of the stone.  Smaller stones, and stones located in the distal ureter, have a better chance of passing, and more quickly.  It could be a matter of hours, or it could take a week or more.

Not usually unless: Most of the time after you pass the stone the pain will disappear.But in some cases if the stone is associated with infection one may have some pain  and discomfort on urination.

Yes: The kidney is covered in a very thick piece of skin that doesn't like to be stretched - when stone blocks urine flow the kidney can swell a bit and push on this skin. This is what triggers nausea/vomiting/pain. Once pressure gone there may be some local bruising that may take a few days to recover. Drink plenty of water - a bit of cranberry juice to help urine to have more acid to flush small grit

Meds: When you passed the stone did you get pain meds? if you did effect can linger on. Also when u are passing a stone, you may have increased sympathetic activity due to pain, and can feel drained after that. if the symptoms linger, talk to your MD.

No: You should not continue to have bleeding in the urine after passing a kidney stone.  It may take a short time for irritation to subside, however, if gross or microscopic bleeding continues (&gt;3 red blood cells per high power microscope field) then you will need further workup to check cause of bleeding.Urine.
