im 24yr old and experiencing chest and backpain. is it ok if i take advil (ibuprofen) everynight for my chest pain and backpain? is there no side effect?

Maybe: If the work up is essentially negetive than taking an advil (ibuprofen) prob not an issue. Take it with food. The symptoms need to be worked up first however and not just symptomatic treatment. Peptic ulcer disease for instance can cause similar symptoms and advil (ibuprofen) would be contraindicated.

Advil (ibuprofen): If musculoskeletal chest pain it'll help, it heart attack or pulmonary embolus...Not likely.

Inflammation: Sounds like costochondritis. Suggest Ibuprofen 600 mg three times per day with food for 2-3 days. ALWAYS with food.

Tell your parents: Drink some cold milk and see if the pain doesn't get better.  It maybe your stomach is upset from the medicine.  You should also see a doctor today.

Possible.Stop advil (ibuprofen): Long term use  can cause irritation of esophagus there by causing chest pain - GERD and  chest pain see a Gastroenterology. you might need evaluation  for possible gastric ulcer -GERD . why a young person like you need to take advil. OTC Nexium (esomeprazole) is worth a try. stop advil

Unlikely: Heart issues at your age are rare, especially in light of your fall history.  May represent a rib fracture or spine fracture near thoracic nerve root .  If not acute changes over the last 8 months, then schedule appointment with your doctor. If a sudden change occurs or shortness of breath develops then report to ER

Left chest pain: Differential for a left persistent chest pain can be broad and finding the cause is important. If your doctor is not working it up, and advil (ibuprofen) is not helping, did you try changing ergonomics? From your name you appear to be young at 19 and no reason to be having chest pain.. If concerning, change doctors, and start with a cxr....

hello, i have very strong upper back pain that sometimes gives me chest pain also. had some x-rays done, everything came out fine. my doctor is not helping. can it be inflammation? if i take advil, will it work? how long should i take it for?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests.
