No : Bppv and vestibular neuronitis are  inner ear problems and have no effect on neck muscles. That could've been due to many other causes. See your primary doctor first to evaluate.

Most likely viral: Viruses have been associated with vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis including herpes viruses (that cause cold sores or chicken pox and shingles), influenza, measles, rubella, mumps, polio, hepatitis, and Epstein-Barr. Other viruses may be involved that are as yet unidentified because of difficulties in sampling the labyrinth without destroying it. Peripheral nerves can also be infected by them.

Vestibular Neuonitis: Symptoms of vestibular neuronitis include vertigo, nystagmus, and imbalance.  It is typically a self limiting disorder, and over time, patient report gradual improvement.  Improvement times can be variable from weeks to months.  Symptom improvement can be hastened with vestibular physical therapy.  If symptoms do not resolve completely, then balance function testing would be advised.

There r many options: Histamine-1 blockers such as benadryl, (diphenhydramine) meclizine, dimenhydrinate (dramamine), phenergan; benzodiazepam like valium; scopalamine; and corticosteroids are options and their use depends on severity of your symotoms. The first three pills ore available otc and all others need prescriptions. So, if otc are not adequate, consult your doc. In the meantime, move your head really slowly! good luck.

This is not typical: First off, the diagnosis needs to be confirmed.  Vestibular neronitis can give intense spinning sensation which can last 7-10 days sometimes followed by a less severe relapse in the following few weeks.  Long term the symptoms should abate.  The exception is if the brain never learns to compensate for the damaged inner ear.  Specialized physical therapy can sometimes help.

Vertigo: Definitely sounds vestibular.  You might have just developed Meniere's disease of the inner ear with acute 'attacks.'  More likely with ringing and hearing loss in one ear, but not necessarily.  Or it may just be 'benign positional vertigo' on top of the general dizziness you've been having.  See ENT for hearing test and balance testing, then treat accordingly.

Yes: Hearing loss or balance symptoms associated with an Enlarged Vestibular Aqueduct can occur when the endolymphatic duct and sac expand to fill the larger space. When EVA is associated with such symptoms, it is referred to as EVA syndrome.
