: An acute process is something that happens suddenly and often, but not always, suggests something relatively severe. In contrast, a chronic process occurs gradually over time.

Good for you: "No acute process" means nothing was seen to suggest an active disease. Presumably any "significant" chronic process would be described in the report.  Sometimes we radiologists shy away from just using the term "normal"  so we don't have to explain it if we end up in court.

Are you symptomatic?: Lung hyperexpansion can be a sign of obstructive pulmonary disease (copd), asthma or just artifactual appearance on radiograph. If you are experiencing shortness of breath (and no other symptoms like chest pain), the best way to know whether you have something that causes truly hyperinflated lungs is to do a lung function test. If your lung function is abnormal, you should see a pulmonologist.

i had an ekg done today when i went in for a low pulse. the findings on the report said: sinus bradycardia rsr(v1)-probably normal for age. abnormal precordial qrs contours and t-abnormality-consider acute process. what does this mean?

: The EKG should be interpreted by the doctor who ordered the test since they know your clinical situation the best. Your EKG does confirm your low heart rate and then it mentions that the shape of your complexes is abnormal. This needs to be seen by a cardiologist and interpreted with your clinical status on mind. my ct scan came back today with the findings no definite acute process &  prominent uterine cervix without a discrete mass.  what does this mean?

Difficult to answer: Please consult directly with the doctor that ordered it or your primary care doctor. It is impossible to advise you on the meaning of these comments as we don't know your medical history and why the scan was ordered (and therefore what the doctors were looking for). Blastic: osseous lesions would be worrisome for metastatic disease to the bone.  Since the Impression doesn't mention anything to this effect, I would suspect that there is a typo in the report. Follow up with your doc to make sure.

Old event: Please discuss this with your own doc for better understanding in YOUR case. Essentially the medicaleze means you had an abnormal MRI finding (from long ago) of blood parts (hemosiderin) in the brain stem. Since there was no swelling (Vasogenic edema), this was not a recent event. Causes (etiologies) could have been blood vessel abnormalities or trauma.

if a brain mri shows no acute process but only a nonspecific signal change in left parietal, is it advisable to do a ct scan considering its risk?

Not necessary : It is not necessary to undergo a CT. Of course it would depend on why you had the MRI in the first place. Most of these findings that are called nonspecific are vascular spaces and not by themselves a cause to worry

: All laboratory/imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests.  Wish you good health!
