i have migraines once a week. acidity and/or flatulence precede the migraine. i take 500 mg naproxen for a migraine. how do i prevent migraine attack?

Migraine ppx : You first see your doctor to make sure this is migraine and not another headaches syndrome or systemic condition. Next step is identification and avoidance of triggers.   Depending on severity and frequency of your migraine, daily prophylactic therapy with beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, tcas, anticonvulsants, etc. Can be tried. Triptans +/- naprosyn (naproxen) for abortive therapy.

low grade (upto 100) fever in evening from past 3 days..flatulence, acidity and no appetite at all no other symptoms, antacid reduces fever, any advice?

Symptoms: You may be having an infection, not sure what kind by your description. Push fluids, go with blend foods for now and take Acetaminophen if fever if over 101.5 or having symptoms of pain in the body. If fever continues and your conditions doesn't get better or gets worse, see doc.

For starters...: Most "bad breath" is due to decaying food particles between the teeth and stuck to the back of the tongue. Serious dental flossing followed by running the floss across the back of the tongue, several times daily, is usually enough. If you have tonsilloliths or a tobacco habit, try to remedy these. If no response, get a good throat check from physician or dentist.

Absolutely!: Acid reflux can cause pain or discomfort over the sub-sternal and epigastric area due to irritation and inflammation of the esophagus or the sphincter connecting the esophagus with the stomach. Gas and bloating can increase intra-gastric pressure, also causing chest discomfort. That is why sometimes, burping or belching can relieve that discomfort.

Doctor can evaluate: If there is a stomach acidity problem, the doctor will want to know how badly a person is affected, what treatments have worked for it, whether or not there are pre-cancerous or cancerous disorders, etc... Usually, the first things done are to test for h. Pylori infection, and to start acid blockers such as Nexium or aciphex (rabeprazole). Dietary changes can be helpful, as well as some lifestyle changes.

Gassy for u, not for: Everyone is different when it comes to digesting food. Fatty foods typically take longer to digest and so bloating/indigestion sensation may occur. Spicey/acidic foods may make heart-burn worse. But it is different for everyone..Some food may be fine for you but others can't stand it, and the reverse is also so true. So, pay attention to yourself. Minimize ones that cause u gas. Good luck.

since last 1 wk whenever i eat  gas(acidity) is forming and there is a slight pain in the stomach. due to this not able to sleep. whats the issue?

GERD: Gerd is common and can disrupt sleep, sleep apnea also increases gerd but your onset is just 1 week, r/o h pylori, sleep apnea etc.

Gastroenterologist: I suggest consulting a gastroenterologist for diagnosis and treatment. You may have lactose or gluten intolerance or even irritable bowel syndrome. Appropriate tests will be ordered. In the meantime try taking simethicone after meals to prevent gas buildup.

Helicobacter pylori: The simple answer to your question is yes. There are several blood tests for the bacterial infection.  There is also a urease breath test.  If you end up seeing a GI doctor and endoscopy performed, a biopsy can also be taken. No single drug cures H. pylori infection. Treatment involves taking several medications for 7 to 14 days. Treatment includes an acid inhibitor and 2 antibiotics.

Refulx: I have answered this question for you not long ago.  Your symptoms could be due to reflux disease versus IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Hope this helps.
