For starters...: Most "bad breath" is due to decaying food particles between the teeth and stuck to the back of the tongue. Serious dental flossing followed by running the floss across the back of the tongue, several times daily, is usually enough. If you have tonsilloliths or a tobacco habit, try to remedy these. If no response, get a good throat check from physician or dentist.

Multiple reason: Although there are multiple reasons for bad breath, one reason is bacteria in your mouth and particularly the ones that cause gum disease. To eliminate that from the equation make sure you get a professional dental checkup/ cleaning, and be on top of home care specially flossing and brushing teeth and tongue.
