Candida?: Acid reflux can make the throat sore and feel tight, but a Candida Albicans infection ('thrush") can also cause many of your symptoms--especially if you are HIV positive. See your doctor asap any time you have difficulty swallowing and/or breathing.

No: A geographic tongue does not cause acid reflux from the stomach.  A geographic tongue is probably not capable of causing stomach symptoms... but that doesn't mean a person can't have stomach symptoms and have a geographic tongue at the same time.

Possibly: Gastric reflux can influence the look of the surface of the tongue as it results in acids in the mouth that don't normally belong there.  Different foods and medications can also influence tongue surfaces.

Probably yes: It will not cause a dry tongue but may a cause bitter taste.  Over a period of time untreated acid reflux may dissolve the outer layer, enamel, of the teeth.

Doubtful: I've never heard of this happening.  While i suppose it's possible, i doubt this is what's causing your burning tongue.

Whiteness tongue: If the white areas on the tongue are like cottage cheese and wipe off and under them is a reddish base, you could  have candida  oralis. This can be easily treated with an antifungal.   Reflux would have other symptoms like acid brash (acid taste on the throat after eating when you burp and you almost throw up acidic fluid). Try brushing your tongue both sides and the top (dorsum).  Might help.

Many causes: yes acid reflux can cause a white tongue but it as also accompanied by other symptoms like heartburn.  white tongue can be cause also by medications, mouth bacteria or yeast and bad oral hygiene.

Possible causes: some medications such as Pepto Bismol that contain bismuth can cause a black/brown discoloration, chewing tobacco,  smoking, certain foods.

Anxiety symptoms: Anxiety can cause many things, including feeling like your throat is closing.  I suspect that this is what you are feeling.  See your doctor to be evaluated.  Feel better!

the back of my tongue is stained yellow, with a whitish coating as well only on the back. i have terrible acid reflux, could that be the reason?

It's possible...: ...To get a coating on the tongue as a sign of severe acid reflux. However, there are many other reasons why your tongue could have an appearance of a coating.  To sort it out, you should see your primary doctor or a gastroenterologist. In the mean time, try adding liquid or chewable antacids to your current anti-reflux regimen, while you are waiting for your appointment. Good luck.
