No: Gastric reflux is a normal physiologic event that occurs at varied intensity to all. Symptoms arise  in some  after triggering events, which are commonly infectious and persist when dietary practices aggravate the problem.Try eliminating caffeine or nicotine from your life,foods that you find irritating, and avoid reclining after meals. Short term use of available meds may also help.

Yes.: There are different causes of acid reflux. Most commonly it is caused by a hiatal hernia (a weakness in the diaphragm muscle) which can be repaired.  Other causes include obesity, bacterial infection and esophageal muscle weakness (low les pressure). As long as no permanent damage a sleeve can be done safely.

Yes...: The restriction imposed by the gastric bypass operation is a set-up for reflux especially if you eat too fast or too much.  Slow down your eating, consume smaller portions and use an acid blocker if necessary to treat symptoms of reflux.  Good luck!

Reflux; stomach full: 41 M "I have loose gastric sphincter does empty stomach heighten acidity sensation in neck. Yes. but empty stomach less likely to reflux as does less pressure from fat stomach. Raising head of bed 6 inches may help as well as you will have less of a problem at night. Losing weight may help as well. Work with your team on this.

Poss Food allergy : If continued pain and or bloating after eating but not associated with any evidence of ulcer disease, may wish to consider food allergy testing

: Do you mean art.blood pH or urine dipstick pH?  Need more info. One needs both to see where you are. Also blood electrolytes.  Wikipedia has a good discussion of alkalosis and acidosis and the Henderson-Hasselbac equation.  One needs to read this several times with a pencil and paper to work with before it becomes clear. One week: Gastric diversion, or gastric bypass when performed for severe reflux disease, is done laparoscopically and therefore most people would take a week off of work. The complete healing processes takes longer and you may have dietary restrictions of a liquid diet for a week to months depending on your procedure and your surgeon's recommendations.

Timing of vomiting: Many children spit up, some a lot. The time after feeding is key for deciding if the stomach has delayed emptying.  Infants should have an empty stomach by 2 hours or so after eating, so if a child throws up 4 hrs or more after eating, they likely have delayed emptying. Poor weight gain, poor appetite and cough are all reasons for a referral. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned.
