is it bad to lay down after you have been drinking? i feel like i have acid reflux or something.

Stay upright: Acid reflux is basically  acid squirting from your stomach up in the direction of your throat. If you are upright, gravity generally speaking keeps the acid towards the bottom of your stomach.
But if you lay flat, that acid has an easier time getting to your throat. Food/liquids generally will cause your stomach to make more acid. 
Putting it all together, laying flat after eating = more heartburn.

it is recommended not to eat anything 3 hours before going to bed to reduce acid reflux symptoms. how about drinking? should that also be cut off ?

Yes: You can drink water, but stay away from alcohol, tea, coffee. These all effect your tone between your esophagus and stomach.

what type of alcohol is better to drink when you have acid reflux?

None really: Alcohol is a direct irritant of the esophagus (the connection from mouth to stomach) and the stomach. If you already have reflux disease, then any alcohol will cause worse problems. Reflux can be treated by eating smaller amounts more often, being cautious about things that cause irritation, not eating/drinking before sleep, and propping the head of the bed up. Good luck!

Yes: The caffeine in the beverage has a direct effect on the lower esophageal sphincter (tightening muscle).It makes it more likely not to close fully.That increases the chance of reflux.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Wine, including red wine and other alcoholic beverages are common triggers for acid reflux. It is usually possible for my pateintws to continue to enjoy wine if had in moderation in conjunction with appropriate treatment for acid reflux.

i feel like theres a rock in my chest. it hurts to eat or drink anything, like its trying to get around the rock. i normally have awful acid reflux.

Dysphagia: You will need to be seen by a gastroenterologist.  You may need an upper endoscopy or an xray-esophagram to evaluate these symptoms further.

i love coffee but have acid reflux. so what i do is drink coffee and 5-10 minutes after that eat cabbage to neutralize the acid. is this strategy good?

It might help: Eating cabbage after drinking coffee is not proven to neutralize the acid. On the other side, if you feel it helps you, you might continue to do it as it will not do you any harm.

if you deal with acid reflux & stopped drinking soda because of it 5 months ago, would starting to drink a couple glasses of soda a day again likely aggravate your reflux again soon after you've started drinking the soda again?

: May, may not.  Only way to tell is to re-start the soda and see if symptoms return.  (Having experienced this once already, it is very possible symptoms may gradually return after drinking soda for a prolonged period - but only way to know is to try it)

Not recommended: No one knows exactly the cause of the  gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). However, research has shown the results remain diverse and contradictory.  Some study showed no significant associations between beer consumption and reflux symptoms. Another found that drinking beer decrease in reflux symptoms. The consensus is limit or avoid consumption.
